Question 1975 24' Argosy

I just bought a 1975 24' Argosy and was surprised to have no panel for battery, waste tanks or water levels. Is this typical of this unit? How do I check all of these levels? Or is it hidden and I have just not found it yet?

Hello Paul -- Welcome to the Forums! My old '74 24' Argosy is between owners and has found its way back to my driveway. These were economy models intended to be more affordable for families. They weren't decked out with instrumentation.

Many of us outfit with a VOM to check continuity and specific charging level as needed. But most battery recharging is done by trusting to the humming dreadnought Univolt under your bath closet. It's really a good idea to change this out for a good WFCO converter.

Same as when I fill my '06 Safari, you fill the freshwater tank until it overflows out the fill tube. The gray tank is most likely to fill first in use. Though not the most pleasant smelling gauge, it would tend to show 'full' by coming up the shower drain first. The black tank level is fairly visual when you have decent light and look straight down into it periodically; always start with a couple gallons of water in there anyway to prevent a dry stalagmite forming right under the toilet.

CanoeStream...thanks for the laugh, I just finished wiping the tears from my eyes...for some reason that just struck me as funny.

Anyway, I just picked up a '76 Argosy 26 and had the same question as Paul but just haven't gotten around to asking it yet.

That malady is commonly referred to as the "black Hills", for reasons that will become clear if it ever happens to you.
