1975 20ft. Argosy appliances

We have the Little Bug all striped on the inside and all old appliance removed, still have a lot to do before rebuilding but would like some advice on replacing the furnaces and refrigerator. The old furnaces is the nt-16 and old refrigerator is the rm-46. The best I have seen would be the RM-2451 for the refrig. and NT-16seq. for the furnace. Does this sound about right for a 20 foot trailer.? Has anyone condensed the large vent to a smaller one coming off the cabinet from the refrigerator.?
thanks for any advice.

Check the dimensions on the furnace and stay as close to original as possible to make installation easy. My guess would be the NT 16 would be a drop in with the intake/exhaust fitting pretty easily.

As for the fridge, Dometic has a chart that tells what current models can be used for replacement of the old timers. If you are using the old cabinet this will save you some time and effort, but don't expect to install without any trouble at all. Chart:

Looks like a 2351 is the closest replacement for an RM 46. I have one of these in my Minuet and it works like a charm. I had to do some fitting and filling to make it fit.

Hi Lady

I had the furnace replaced in my 1973 20 footer, by an Airstream restoration expert. Slight modification of the new furnace was required, as I recall. It is smart of you to replace the fridge, whether it was working or not. I would update the charger as well for your batteries sake (which means the water pump should be changed as I believe that there is a strange voltage compatabilty issue ) Please check to see if I am erroneous in my recollections, or perhaps one of the forumites can correct me

If you replace the furnace with the modern version of whast was in there, it is a lot easier to get it in and working, though there are some fasteners and screws that are a PITA to get at. Dave's advice about going to Intellipower or similar to replace the Univolt is also very good.
