Airstream restoration in Ontario

Has anyone found a vintage trailer restorer in Ontario Canada? I have an old Overlander that needs work.

Michael

Hello... Welcome to the Airstream addiction... A lot of restoration can be done by yourself if you are mechanically inclined, ie if you are able to work on your house, an Airstream can be worked on also.. just because it is an Airstream doesn't make it difficult. We have learned this and are now doing full restoration AGAIN on our 2nd Argosy. We have used this place for having our awning put on.. very knowlegdable.. they are familiar with Airstreams and one of them used to work for CanAm in London..

Has anyone else been to Trailer Center in Dorchester Ontario? Brian who runs service apparently used to work at Can-Am, and is willing to do restoration work.

Good day neighbour... You might want to talk with one of the Forum members "Shacksman". He is near Stratford and usually has a few project Airstreams at his place. He is very knowlegeable with the vintage models.

I need to get the rear end redone before it starts to sag really bad. So, rear bumper frame and possibly some crossmembers need to be replaced.

Hey there Road Ruler, you are just up the road from me! Do you have any local places you go for parts or odds and ends for your Safari?

Michael:

WILTSIE TRUCK BODIES in Aylmer. They’ve done a lot of work for me.

I would stay clear of CAN-AM in London. My own experience there was bad, as was that of almost everyone I have ever spoken to about them.

They seem to succeed in spite of themselves.

Yes, we are in Aldershot. Usually go to Rustons for generic stuff and trek up to Can Am for the Airstream specific parts.

Would be nice to have an Airstream grave yard in the neighbourhood but no such luck.

I was also told to check out the parts shop at Sicards in Smithville. Have you been down that way yet?

I called in to Wiltsie, but they are not taking any vintage repairs until later in the summer. Unfortunately, we want to go camping this spring, so instead I took it to Trailer Centre in Dorchester (used to be in London). I will let you all know how the rear end repair goes.

Haven't been to Sicards for a few years. It might be worth looking into.
