I am having trouble IDing the auto in the SS picture. Silver Streak's last model was in 56-57?? so the auto should be about that year?? I am wrong on that, and now see that SS lasted until 1997.
But it is not a 55-56 Mercury

Not a GM product or Chrysler of that era neither. Looks to me to be a newer car?
Where are the car experts?

Looks more like this 65 Buick.
Dave

[QUOTE=REDNAX;1134242]Yeah, that is a 1965 or '66 Mercury with a same year SS.

Two others models that I could believe are that car: Chrysler Imperial, or Lincoln. Of the era, not sure of the year, though.

When my parents first bought the 80 acres on which I grew up, my grandparents lived on it for a few years while we lived in Irving and went out to the farm on weekends. They were the first humans to live on the property for a long while, and it had gotten pretty wild. My Granny regularly carried a Harrington & Richardson .22 revolver on her hip when she was outside the farmhouse. (That very same H&R revolver is currently in in an undisclosed location within 50 feet of where I'm sitting.)

Granny Boyd taught me from a very young age that snakes are for killin' and I have never seen a need to change that attitude she taught me. I can override the basic response and ignore snakes I'm positive pose no threat to me... but I confess to being somewhat trigger/hoe/shovel happy where legless reptiles are concerned.

So, while I like LawChick and would be inclined to take her side anyway... I couldn't agree with her more on the topic of slithery icky targets..er... snakes!

Regarding the vintage advertisement (with the centerpiece on the table and gramps wondering why there is no heat coming from that there firepit), I think those folks decided to camp on the boat ramp that leads down to the lake. Missy is probably wondering why there are several hundred boaters lined up trying to figure out how to get around them down to the water, and that might explain why Ma is holding a tray of fresh brownies for the crowd behind the scenes.

Definitely before URBAN COWBOY days.

I just noticed. That's not a hand bag, that's a creel. Goes with the net next to it.

I know I'm not sticking my S&W in a yucky, fishy creel. Or my Grandfather's S&W either.

OK RED you were right the first time. Sorry I misread it to be a 55 or 56 as I thought that SS had closed in that era.

66 Mercury it is.

JM2 nails it. A '64 was my first thought.

As Silver Streak was built in the part of Los Angeles known as El Monte (not too far from Inland RV today), I figure they used an LA advertising agency, and in turn used California locations.

Anyone recognize where it might be, or could be?
