West Coast Customs does an AS for Skype

Hi from AZ. . . Just watched, on Velocity channel, West Coast Customs re-do a 28 ft Airstream trailer for Skype. Some sacrilege involved but overall pretty entertaining. Finished product was good looking ! I'm sure they'll re-run it many times. Regards, Craig

I had to laugh at the beginning; "there's really nothing to it when it's empty!"

"...boss, we're not going to make this deadline..."

It did turn out nicely. Imagine having a shop full of experts at your disposal!

I saw it, too. They called the trailer "vintage," but it looked new to me. A real vintage would have been very cool, especially to see how they handled the polishing. Excellent product placement.

Yeah, not to smart calling a 2008 vintage (they showed add with year listed they bought it from). I think it's better then using a real vintage one though.

I didn't hear, or missed any mention on how they would have reinforced the frame to handle the weight of the swing out doors and the loss of structural integrity from the shell.
Looked like the doors were famed with aluminum but when they opened one up it looked like it took 5 or 6 guys to handle it.
Interesting design work and the finished trailed looked pretty slick.

It's a 2005 Safari LS.
I'd be happy to answer any questions as we designed it for Skype.

Your team did a great job on the design. It amazes me that WCC was actually able to do the rebuilt in the time allocated. Was any other work done after the deadline and delivery? It is amazing what can be accomplished when money is no object. I would be curious to know what the total cost of the project was.

Top Secret applies to business as well as military.

WCC ain't talkin when you ask the price.

They are a 5 minute drive from us.

Crazy far out projects, are their specialty, and they do a great job getting it done.

You got the money, they got the ability, no question.

Cars, trucks, vans, trailer motorhomes, you name it, they do it, and do it well.

Yet when you go through their shop, as I did several times, the question comes up as to how they get the things done that they do?

Nothing super fancy for equipment, but it's more knowing how to use it.

Impressive, is an understatement.

Andy

Skype

I saw the Skype Airstream this past weekend on I-5 near Mt. Shasta (Northern CA). I knew I'd be able to get more details about it from AIR Forums! Pretty cool transformation of the Airstream.
