Television Program

"A MUST SEE TELEVISION PROGRAM"

Gordon Elliot will host a television program that will air on December 28th, called "Genuine Articles".

The entire 1/2 hour will feature Airstream.

Much of the taping has been completed.

More information later as to channel and time.

"Genuine Articles" is on the "Fine Living" network, AKA a cable channel.

Airstream Trailers
Airstream trailers have been a classic since Wally Byam first invented them in 1931. Byam used aircraft engineering to sculpt an aerodynamic trailer so popular that he was soon leading caravans of hundreds of Airstreams across the country. Host Ron Hazelton visits the Airstream factory in Jackson Center, Ohio, and helps build today's Airstream--a retro design with an updated interior. When his Airstream is complete, Ron sets up camp in the world's best-known trailer. TV G

Can a TV guide be added?

I've seen websites before where they have listed upcoming TV shows based on a searched phrase or word.

Has this been considered for airstreamforums.com?

One problem could be a lack of real estate. Where could we put this? This site is darn near perfect as it is.

All This Airtime Is Great...

The last six months or so has shown a vast array of special interest shows about our beloved Airstreams. We've hit the big time. The one down side is getting a second (or third or fourth or...) vintage Airstream will get harder and harder.

Hands on History isn't available at The History Channel's on-line store yet, but another video called "wheel estate" can be purchased there for about $25.

http://store.aetv.com/html/product/i...tid=&subcatid=

VIDEO DESCRIPTION FROM THE WEB SITE: Depending on who you ask, they are the bane of the highways or a physical manifestation of the American dream, icons of freedom and mobility that let travelers take the comforts of home on the road or "silver Twinkies." WHEEL ESTATE explores the weird and wonderful world of travel trailers and recreational vehicles, meeting the men and women who live on the road, the engineers who keep their dreams moving and tracing the evolution of these distinctive vehicles.

The earliest examples were homemade, Model T Fords converted with wooden houses on back. By the 1950s, the well-heeled and willing could plunk down $75,000 and drive away with the Executive Flagship, which boasted a portable swimming pool and room to sleep six. During the Depression, makeshift examples were staples in the "Hoovervilles" that sprang up across the nation, temporary towns of those displaced from their land. From the earliest examples to the next generation of RVs, no road is left untraveled in WHEEL ESTATE.

I'm going to suggest these as a possible purchase request at my local library. Great way for some of our younger generations to learn about this part of American History. Seems like a fun and interesting topic for them to explore. Thanks for the threads. Leigh

Fine Living Network's online program guide does not list the Airstream show in it's current series. It is not listed online for Dec. 28th. I've gotta believe Andy, so let's keep our eyes open for when it does come into release and get posted to a schedule.

Searching TitanTV.com

I use a web site: http://www.titantv.com as my TV guide. It also works with my EyeTV program so I can preprogram recordings. I did a search on the word "Airstream" and came up with this:

Travel Channel

Millionaire Trailer Parks* * * * *

Featured: luxury mobile-home parks that cater to the wealthy. Included: Millionaire Park; the estates of British Park. Also: actor Billy Campbell's vintage Airstream.*

1/31/03 2:00 pm Central
1/4/04 7:00 & 10:00 pm Central

It will search the stations available to you that you set up per your locality and service. Since I can't get Living Network I didn't find Genuine Articles.

Travel Channel A/S show

I just finished watching the Travel Channel show, Road Kings. It was nice to finally get to see it. No time to tape, however. It was a good portrayal of Airstreaming.

Digital Recording of Secrets of RVs

I captured it and edited out the commercials with EyeTV. The result is about 43 minutes and 462 mb of raw footage in EyeTV. I haven't figured out what to do with it next other than to export it to a Quicktime movie where I can then further edit it and possibly clip out just the Airstream parts. If I can get other clips from other shows I could then burn it all onto a DVD.

Smile Tim, I know

But you well know our dial up blues too.

Actually, I also want to go to Quicktime and having EyeTV, Quicktime Pro, iDVD, iMovie, Final Cut Express, and Toast Titanium 6; I have a lot of experimenting to do as well. Gotta use those tools.

From your website I know what to look for in the repeats on TV. Thanks.

We were at Jackson Center during the filming of this show. Ron Hazelton did an intro segment at our trailer. Don't know if it was used or not. Never got to see it.

Anyone know where or how we could see this show?

My Wife and Kids

This is specifically for motorhome owners. It might even be an Airstream but they have changed the name to protect the innocent.

If you have 20 minutes to relax, this show should have some entertaining moments that will strike you motorhome owners close to your heart.

If you have not been there yet, your day will come.

Trailer owners miss out on a lot.
