Petersen Automotive Museum exhibit- In Los Angelas
I wish I was in the Los Angles area. This would be soooooo cool to see.
Gayle Anderson was live at the PETERSEN AUTOMOTIVE MUSEUM where, for only the third time in its 14-year history, vehicles will be lifted by a massive crane for placement in a Petersen Automotive Museum exhibit.
The vehicles will become part of the latest installation -- and an ideal stay-cation location -- entitled "FROM AUTOCAMPS TO AIRSTREAMS: THE EARLY ROAD TO VACATIONLAND", which officially opens to the public on June 28.
Too large to bring into the Museum's second floor gallery by conventional means, the trailers and motor homes represent a variety of approaches to vacation travel on the road during the first four decades of the twentieth century. Together they will offer a unique and nostalgic look at motorized leisure travel throughout Southern California before the dark days of World War II and highlight the innovation at work at the beginning of an industry.

The Petersen has been on my wish-to-do list-when-I-visit-L.A. for years. Just wish I could visit this exhibit.

Looks like you will owe your missus big time. But what little I know of her she will let you think that but will enjoy the trip just as much! Are you taking the '53? If so keep it away from the parking lot or it may end up in the 'air' also.
Neil.

For those that can't make it....
Here are some photos of the trailer exhibit. The Petersen Museum was very accommodating letting me park in there loading and unloading area. This is me and my daughter at the entrance of the museum. Most of the trailers belong to Auburn Trailer. I should have done a better job documenting the names and years, but I didn't. Hear are some photos. My point and shoot isn't the worlds best in dark places. Enjoy

Thanks for posting the pictures, Robert. Of course some of the 'RVs' are in books that I have but I have not seen some of the ones you posted. Seen in books or not, it must have been awesome to see them in 'person'. Does the Auburn trailer guy exhibit his collection on his property? Sure would be nice to spend a day there!

FreshAir,
I don't know if he exhibits his collection or not. But here is his website www.auburntrailercollection.org. I always see him advetising work for trade on some of his other trailer.

Going to the Peterson
Thank you for posting the photos.
We have visited the Peterson three times. Once for the Bugatti exhibit, once for the Foose exhibit and once for the Steve McQueen exhibit. All were wonderful.
Our WBCCI unit has a rally in Malibu in September. We will all go to the Peterson. Really looking forward to it.
