Mine have rubber plugs on the top of the black chocks. It grips very well to the bottom of the yellow ramp.

Seems to me a piece of grippy rubber (like the stair tread I mentioned) would work. I just haven't tried mine yet.

Yes. But that's just the chocks. The actual levelers slide like crazy. Different angle than the red ones. Very disappointed. [emoji53]

Even on gravel? It seems like after they used a bit and the bottoms roughed up they could be better.

The way the rubber spots on the chocks stick to the ramps I think a grippy rubber mat ought to work.

Here is a solution that should work as good as the red curved ones, looks like a direct competitor to Andersen’s , I would go with these....

Tire is willing to roll up on the yellow ramp, but the ramp keeps slipping against the ground, out from under the tire. Yellow ramps slide on most anything. We added friction tape to the bottom of the yellow ramps, which appeared to help on pavement, though it most definitely did not help on dirt. Have yet to try them on gravel, but it doesn't look promising.

Regarding friction tape, after leaving our paved but badly out-of-level camping spot and picking up the yellow ramps, I found the tape had slid around on the ramp while parked. I had also noticed what appeared to be some minor shifting of the yellow ramps after parking and stabilizing, but wasn't 100% sure. However, when we broke camp, we realized one of the ramps had actually done so as the friction tape slid and bunched up under that ramp. (sigh)

Red ramps aren't perfect either, but because of their longer and more gradual ramp, they don't slide quite as eagerly as the yellow ones. Red ramps will still slide under many conditions, mind you, just not quite as much or quite as often as the yellow ones.

At this point, when it's obvious a single Lynx block will do the job, we just drop one under each trailer wheel and pull up onto that. Much easier than a ramp when we don't need much height to get leveled. However, ramps that don't slide are more convenient than building a pyramid of Lynx blocks when we know we're going to need 3-4 blocks of elevation under each wheel.

Had those - didn't help on the gravel.

I think I still have my legos....

Interesting. The listing notes it includes friction tape to put on the TOP of the leveler and to never put it on the bottom. That could mean with the added friction the rotation of the tire helps to draw the leveler under the it in stead of spitting it out.

If this holds true, I may not be so stupid after all. Nah.

I wonder if spray paint would cover red plastic. Keep the functionality, delete the advertising.

Definitely interesting, though it really does seem all the slipping is going on *under* the ramps, not between the ramp & tire. Easy enough to try, I guess.

I also saw a thread where some AF members had put a pattern of hex-head stainless screws into the bottom of their red ramps which worked like a studded tire, improving the ramps’ traction against the ground. Might try that with the yellow ramps, though I wonder what that would do to the grey chocks we put under the yellow ramps to lock them in position.

Any chance this leveling discussion could move over the the "Leveling Post-Andersen" thread?

http://www.airforums.com/forums/f457...en-180503.html

In theory there will be an indictment issued against Ryan Andersen, hopefully sooner rather than later!

Thanks

FYI Andersen Hitches is located in Idaho Falls ID:

https://andersenhitches.com/Catalog/...ersen-inc.aspx

. . . so with the camping season now upon us, this location might be a good place to stop by for rest and relaxation? [just off I-15 a little north of I-80/84/86]

Wonder if that large industrial building has received any graffiti in the last few months?

Happy Trails this summer.

Peter

PS -- The above is not a suggestion to do anything illegal, like trespass upon, or deface with graffiti etc., any private property. Calling the company ahead of time to speak with Ryan Andersen might be an interesting experience IMO. [see first link]

I think this is what I’m going to do. If someone asks. E what they are, I’ll be able to tell the story of how bad Andersen is, but if they don’t ask me, hopefully they will think they are the other brand available. They work too well, and throwing them out does nothing to punish Andersen, he’s received the proceeds a long time ago. Why punish myself?
