My classic is pristine. You would not come out of it well.

I know everyone who posts here is perfect, but not everyone is.
It's irreverent if it was pristine. It's less so now.

So you want punishment for damaging your Classic but want forgiveness for him damaging something that belongs to all of us?

Nobody's perfect. But he's a jerk.

You make your own lot in life. If you decide to run a company that caters to those who visit parks, you need to realize that desecrating a park may cost you your livelihood.

I missed the 30 minute window to make an edit (the dinner bell rang). "irreverent" should have been "irrelevant". Actually, both worked.

My wife and I visited Smoky Mtn's last fall and during one of the tours visited the old grist-mill and cabin. Entering the mill area is a sign that warns against any defacing or graffiti with heavy penalties.
But the old, original cabin with hand-sawn planks and pegged floors.... inside were simply COVERED UP with graffiti, love notes, hearts, and initials carved and scribed with permanent markers to the point of total distraction from the pioneering-methods of construction that the cabin was intended to illustrate. Disgustingly tragic. No one seems to get it anymore.

There are more than a few other name-brand trailer threads, and threads of trailering groups, that parallel the feelings found on Airforums..

Reading through, discovered that this Arches National Park Arch had also been defaced with the name ANDERSEN

If I were a judge and he came before me, it would not end well. Unfortunately, that's not likely how it's going to go. Vandals get caught, slapped on the wrist, and go their way.

The irony of this is that most news stories of bad acts are the opposite. Upstanding hard working parents get a call that their son/daughter are perps and they are shamed. But here the parents are showing the way.

I did as well and requested a refund for the Leveler that went in the trash today. Would never use his products again. Disgust.

Whether Andersen refunds or not - I won't use them. Using them tends to promote their business. And I don't want to do that - or have to enter in to lengthy discussions with campers who see them and think I don't care about national treasures because I have the red levelers under my trailer.

Your mileage may vary...just sharing what I'm doing in response to this awful news.

I’m with you. Ordered our Camcos today. We won’t use the red ones any more.

Ordered our Camco leveler ramps just now. If we like them, we’ll toss the red ones.

There are a few here that have suggested easing off the pedal a bit, and that's generous in the hope the Andersens' acknowledgement of their poor judgement is heartfelt. But it didn't appear to be a spontaneous mistake on their part, especially if they are also guilty of engraving their name elsewhere. His company and employees may indeed suffer from his actions but don't forget the generations to come who have no choice but to recognize his family name engraved on top of Mother Nature's work over thousands of years. Some may offer "Let those without sin cast the first stone" but based on what I've read, he first chose to ignore "A word to the wise is sufficient."

The Andersens chose poorly.

None will. But a few buyers may choose elsewhere when purchasing a tow hitch or RV supplies. I have noticed on other travel websites, the Anderson's are also receiving negative opinions for their poor behavior at the Arches NP.

Can you say more about this?

What did social media have to do with his decision to vandalize our property and involve his kids in the cover up?

I think the least that we, as a community who treasure the beauty of this country, can do is contact the company and express our disgust with the actions of Mr. Andersen. They have a website, https://andersenhitches.com, with a contact email address.

Boycotting the company is another option, of course.

One good thing that may come of this, with all of the justified outrage and social media negative exposure it is getting, hopefully it will bring additional awareness to the public as to how terrible these acts are and they must stop.

I was at Corona Arch last week. It’s a 1.5 mile hike in, have to climb a ladder on the way. So I don’t get making that effort with your family to see a special place and then defacing it? Makes no sense at all. Not sure what kind of person thinks like that, amazingly privileged and selfish!

This is as bad as the Boy Scout leader who thought it was fun to topple the balancing rocks in another NP several years ago...

I will do everything in my power to point out this idiot to anyone I see camping who is using his products what he did.

Who carries spare plates? Toll evaders, for one. It may be he switches out the plates to stiff tolls, even though he is more affluent than many of the 'normal' users..........
