Sounds like contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Multiple counts.

As Airstreamer's we seek natural beauty and this owner of Anderson Hitches was caught in the act defacing a National Park and a geologic wonder. Shame on his entire family for their terrible behavior. Boycott Anderson Hitches.

I doubt that he really cares about what he did or what we on this forum think. In less than a year everyone will have forgotten and this forum will be saying how wonderful his levelers are he then moves on in life making money off of people who want to enjoy the environment he apparently feels he has the right to satisfy his ego with as he wishes.

A very sad situation I must say.

From the earlier post by "Phillip Jones, Let's all take a big breath. He definitely made a mistake and I suspect he has learned from the public shaming".

I agree about the public shaming and lessons. I would hope none of my many mistakes in life would grow to such a public outcry. That has to be difficult.

I feel for him and his family. There is likely more to the story that we'll never know.

I get stuck at the point where the passersby did try to warn him, did try to stop him and he kept at it. They say once you know better you should do better. If he really wasn't aware of what he was doing people were making him aware so why not stop then.

Then when you realize a real level of responsibility or consequence is going to impact you you make your children complicit. You send them to the parking lot to switch license plates. Really,,,,,, I believe that speaks to the character of a person more than to the level of the mistake he made.

His letter of apology was contrite but still sounded a bit entitled to me. Darn him for being all about himself.

Owner of Andersen Hitches vandalizes in Arches NP

I don’t and won’t forget. A certain large Pizza chain has not seen me as a customer fro about 30 years due to their blatant display of a poor customer service attitude toward my family. Apparently they couldn’t have been bothered to come over and take our order for over 20 minutes in a fully staffed empty restaurant that affected table service.

I understand this may have started an investigation tying this to a 2016 carving of a 5 foot large “Anderson “ also at Arches.

Hi, he needs to be Tarred and Feathered, prison time, and bankruptcy. And deported to Mexico. I hope all of his products are returned or scrapped. What he has done can't be un-done.

I don't like what he did, but I am not scraping my levelers and going back to wooden blocks, either. He's already got my money. I don't see how tossing a good product that's bought and paid for in the trash is fixing anything. Sounds like that would hurt me more than him.

Hi, I never forget; Zale's and Penny's lost me close to 50 years ago. If I had anything from Andersen It would be destroyed and scrapped so no-one could use them.

I don't know if this will work, but I am contacting Andersen about a refund/return and I am buying Camco's curved levelers (similar concept, different execution - I posted a link on an earlier reply).

Whether Andersen refunds or not - I won't use them. Using them tends to promote their business. And I don't want to do that - or have to enter in to lengthy discussions with campers who see them and think I don't care about national treasures because I have the red levelers under my trailer.

Your mileage may vary...just sharing what I'm doing in response to this awful news.

I am appalled by this jerks actions. He obviously has larceny in his heart.

After all who carries a spare set of plates for their car and tt? And if he did not have a spare set were they going to steal a set from someone else?

I hope they look into a maximum penalty sentence, 1yr in jail AND $100K fine.

This is as bad as the Boy Scout leader who thought it was fun to topple the balancing rocks in another NP several years ago...

I will do everything in my power to point out this idiot to anyone I see camping who is using his products what he did.

Wonder how he would feel if someone put a PP tattoo on his wifes butt and then said oh, I'm sorry.

Should we hang him from the middle of the arch, or to the side? Sunset or sunrise, which would make a better photo op? I bet he's left marks all over this country. Sad for the kids having parents like this. I'll adopt them, and show them to respect one another, and especially nature. Catching a fish is survival...releasing it shows compassion................... Kind of ironic.... promoting camping ''nature'' while defacing it.

''PP was here'' would be better.

A mistake is when you accidentally back into the water spigot or write that 2 + 2 = 5.
Defacing a centuries old landmark, and swapping license plates to avoid capture is not a mistake. It's a crime.

Fair enough and I accept your point.

Perhaps, as suggested earlier in this thread, he should make a big donation to the BLM. It wouldn't compensate for his act, but at least it would be a start.

I vote for maximum fine and jail time. He should not be able to buy his way out of this. This was intentional and he attempted to cover his tracks.

The Anderson Levelers are coming out of the trailer. I'll use the heavy duty "Utility Blocks", which I find are more versatile. The Andersons do not work well on gravel or uneven surfaces.

I just do not want to associate with his destructive actions every time I see one of his products.
