Lightbulb Ghosts and echos

Ghosts and Echos

Nice read. I was suprised when I realized it was one of those friendly pop-up ghost threads from 2007.

I just love reading thur a NEW 20 post thread, realizing in the end it's years old. No I really do!

All those screen names, which at first blush look like new members. Distant names which make you think "Yea, those guys haven't posted in a while" only to realize the new guys came and went and the old guys are just echos.

Evolution.

I find myself rereading these ghosts threads and noticing the difference in mood and tone of our community, the world, the times, myself, you.

Reflective

It's like discovering and reading a letter behind the stove you wrote 10 years ago to a friend, or smoothing out the crumpled newspaper used as packing material in a long forgotten box of your parents things.

Anthropology

Just some random thoughts...

Yes grasshopper, the teacher has become the student.....

I thought it would be better to continue the New York Times thread contributions and not starting a new one as so many like to do.

I hope this helps keep the "thread count" down or at least easier to find and follow. And more interesting for new trailerites too!

Nice link - I'd seen the site for the GlobeTrotter-turned-Eyelusion museum previously, but didn't know it was owned by an author - and one who seems to be experiencing a little resurgence in interest, no less.

Good luck Mr. Payne!

P.S. Here's a YouTube video I just found, with a closer look at the re-imagined 1964 GlobeTrotter:

Sffd?

IN the NYT real estate section I spotted this trailer located in a former San Francisco fire house that is now for sale.

Would any bay area streamers have any information on this trailer?

It looks like it could have been " In Service" with the SFFD.

I'll take it!
(The firehouse that is, don't need another trailer!)

On a serious note - my first impression is that's not a real firehouse-used trailer. Looks like private citizens have already lived there for quite a while, amassing a nice collection of fire-related memorabilia. I'd guess the Airstream is just another funky item dressed up to have a firefighting theme.

It could be very cool though, to imagine an Airstream behind a fire truck. It could be a mobile rest unit during remote forest fires -- imagine it with the gold lettering down the side, rows of extra hose and a rack of fresh oxygen tanks mounted on the back...

I think there may be more to this trailer and from the looks of the rest of the collection the seller may even be a Firefighter. The door has some sort of sign (fire helmet?) looks official.

Check out the rest of the House and see the rest of the collection.

I saw Airstreams constantly until I bought one...the news is where it surprised and fascinated me the most. I didn't want a trailer that looks like every other trailer out there...I wanted something different. Mine fits the bill!

Thanks for the articles!!!

Great stuff. It just reinforces our decision a year ago when we bough our first 'new' camper!
