Wink Nissan Pathfinder Web-Ad

I saw a new Nissan web-ad for new 2013 Pathfinder shown towing vintage Airstream ... cannot find it posted on their site yet, but will keep searching for it.

It look's like it can ONLY Tow 5000 lbs. And they took all the "Rugged" look's out of it. What a shame .

Saw this commercial twice during the 3rd quarter of the Georgia - Ole Miss game. The trailer is definitely in the 29 to 31 foot range.

5000 pounds is plenty for most people nowadays, including those with smaller vintage Airstreams. And I bet that, despite less-rugged looks, the new more-civilized Pathfinder wildly outsells the older one.

They took the rugged look out of it and made it more aerodynamics. What a step forward. Functionality always trumps cosmetics.

For sure... Our neighbour has 3 kids. She drove an Escalade and now a fancy long wheelbase Jeep. These days Soccer mom's will drive just about anything.

I still have a 1999 Pathfinder. The '99 looks trucklike, but really is not. It has McPherson strut front suspension and is unibody construction. The 2005-2012 were trucks and some years had an available 5.6 V8. I might attempt to tow an Airstream with one of those. The new one to me is more like a Murano with a third row, or an Altima station wagon. It doesn't even have the quirky high mounted rear door handles. Those were a Pathfinder trademark. I have my doubts about its ability to tow a really large Airstream. I would never tow my Airstream with my Pathfinder, but maybe with a transmission cooler and an electric brake controller I could. Things that make you go hmmm...

What about the 5,000lb towing capacity and the GVW of the AS they show in the add.

My wife has a 2004 Nissan Maruno 6 cylinder. I wonder if it could handle our 79 Ambassador 28' footer?

I also noted that the safety chains and lights/brake power connector were not hooked up: I wonder what happened when hey got off-stage?
