DIY Network Overlander Restoration Series

I just purchased a 1970 Overlander that needs some restoration done to it. While surfing the internet I noticed that DIY Network did a restoration on this same model. They have a synopsis on their website, but it would be great to watch. This is the first time that I have done anything like this. I would love to use the show as some basis of a guide. Does anyone have the shows on DVD or VHS? I would gladly pay. Thanks for any assistance that can be given. Please contact me if you can help with the shows.

Maybe we should request they re-air it??

I missed it too and would loved to have seen it.

Thanks. I have found that site. I would like to watch the shows though. From what I see, all it does is just tell you what they did each episode. I would like to see it since I'm going to be doing this for my first time.

The series replays often on a cable station "Classic Rides". In my area it is currently in replay.

Red face

I have been taping the diy Overlander AS makeover. Tonight will be the 5th segment. I plan on taping all of them. I have also printed out all of the Material on each one. Anyone can do the printouts.

I think you could sell copies of your tapes.....I asked dIY network if I could buy tapes and they said no. I have Tivoed the series but don't have my Tivo set up to make tapes....I for one would be interested in purchasing copies of the program....we have a 1969 that looks very similiar to the one being restored. We have watched the series once and are watching it again....I see something different each time.....pj

We need to put the show on DVD and send copies to everyone on the forum. Or put it on a website where we can stream it...

Actually, I was just putting the idea out there for someone else to pick up on... I don't have a television. :-(

I don't even have a trailer at this point.

We've been watching the series too. What do you guys think of some of the design choices they are making? The painting they've done throughout worries me. Once you've painted the original vinyl walls there is no going back. I know many people paint the early trailers, but they were painted originally anyway, right?

I do like their use of aluminum accents inside. Especially the aluminum on the bathroom walls. That was clever and nice looking.

We eagerly await the kitchen episode!

Does anyone have the series recorded that they could make us a copy? We'd love to watch it, but according to their website it isn't scheduled to air anytime soon.

I don't know why DIY Network doesn't offer DVDs of these shows. Dumb!

Overall, I thought they did a pretty good job with the refurbishment. The only thing I didn't like was the decision to paint the walls. I can only see this being done when the existing walls are badly stained, cracked, and have numerous holes (like mine). I liked how they turned the oven cove into a place to mount a new microwave.

Almost all episodes are on youtube: Here's the first one, runs through Video 9-4 I think.. You will run out of episodes on the side bar at 7 or so, but then just look it up by keywords. I'm taking notes!

We have a 1970 ourselves, and watched every episode on YouTube. Easy to find, although the sound is badly out of synch! Our restoration is mostly complete. It would be nice to have the facilities and the $ that THEY have to do the work, but it was cool to see the whats and hows, gave us courage to dive in.

We did paint our walls. Let's face it... it looks 10000X better! No more old and dingy, everything brown.

Did you contact the show?
