Airstream TV Show

I saw a commercial for a new TV show called Promised Land last night on GSN network. It appears to be about a family that buys a vintage Airstream trailer and lives or travels in it full time. The first show is on Dec. 2, 2010 at 9:00 pm on GSN network, channel 338 on Direct TV. Has anyone else seen this or know anything more about it?

Correction, The show is on GMC, not GSN. Still is channel 338 on Direct TV. Sorry about the wrong info.

Just found out that is an old show starring Gerald McRaney and was on from 1996 to 1999. Father looses his job and buys a trailer (Airstream) and travels the country with his family searching for adventure and helping people along the way. Still plan on watching it even though it is an old show, sounds better than most new shows to me.

Or "Simon & Simon" go broke and turn altruistic. Or "Major Dad" gets out of the Marines, buys a trailer, and... oh well, let's just watch it and see.

At least he has the right TV: a 'Burb!
Here's an episode list from IMDB: "Promised Land" (1996) - Episode list

If I remember correctly, it was a spinoff of Highway to Heaven. Watched a lot of the episodes back then, and liked the show.

I watched the show last night. The trailer is a soveriegn international rear bath, appears to be about a 1979 model year. I am wondering how 6 people could full time in a trailer designed for 4. Must be the magic of Hollywood. I heard the outside shots are of a stock unit while the inside shots are from a unit that was widened 4 feet. Did notice the cealing was flat and appeared to be more like a flat skylight. Also the vista-view windows were missing on the inside shots. The outside of the trailer looked a little rough, missing stripes, dented banana wrap, ect. The TV is definitely one beater Burb!! The story lines were totally unrealistic.

This show has been around for about 15 years.
It is religiously based and has a good story line. Regards NM1OQRZ

On today at 2PM eastern time.
anyone ever see the movie about the couple trapped in a snowstorm inside an Airstream Classic motorhome? It was Ted Danson and Mary Steenbergen. I taped it on VHs a long time ago. Had the same model at the time so it was extra cool to see it.

One of the minor characters in "Eureka" lives in an Airstream 70s or early 80s model. It's a remarkable trailer because its outer dimensions are the usual 8 ft x 27 ft but the inner dimensions are nearer 15 ft x 30 ft. In one scene five people site in a row in chairs facing the back where there's a 60" or so TV screen, and it's not even half the width of the "Airstream" - I wish real Airstreams could pull that trick off better!

If you are a fan of the Harry Potter series, I'm sure you can understand that the interior expands to meet the needs without expanding the outside...like the tent in HP & the Goblet of Fire where the tent is maybe 6'-0" by 8'-0", but has three bedrooms, a kitchen, sitting area, and dinning area. The car in the Prisoner of Ascaban is a compact car, but accommodates all of Harry's belongings in the trunk and when used by the Weasley family, will provide adequate transportation for the entire family (Mr. & Mrs. Weasley, Ron, Jenny, Fred & George and the oldest son (can't remember his name)). And the tent in the newest release is maybe 4'-0" by 6'-0" and has two levels, a cooking area, long dinning table, bunk beds and a sitting area. Oh yeah, this all fits into Hermione's purse...kind of like Mary Poppins's carpet bag.

The Hollywood folks must have hired a wizard to put a spell on their movie props so that the same happens in the movie's!

Thanks, I didn't have my boxed set of hard bounds to refer to to get the final head count. I did remember there were seven; however, Bill has only been in two cameo shots and Charlie is briefly in the current movie. Percy was a regular, but I don't remember him in the current episode since he worked/works for the Ministry of Magic.

The show described in the beginning sounds like the spin-off from the "Touched by an Angel" series. I enjoyed it when it was on the network.

Just finished rereading "The Deathly Hallows", might go back and reread "The Half Blood Prince". Percy hasn't been in the movie since the third one I think. They cut out his story line to make time.. I guess.
