The interesting thing in the article is that the donation center is a converted polling booth. That would have been interesting to see. Nice wheel coverings! Any idea on the year and model?

Folks, we're going to be real grown up about this.

Hmmmm, curious. Unless that AS was imported I would think the door would be on the other side 'their' curb side. The AS appears to be slightly smaller giving me the impression that it is a UK model. Yes, I do like the wheel covers. As for making a connection to it's former 'use' as a polling booth and it's current use.......nah, I won't go there. I am really grown up.

I would guess it is (or was) a '69 or later Tradewind.

Neil, only the UK, Ireland, Japan (and very few others) drive on the left. I think Shari is close to the ID. No imported AS's had the door on the left as far as I know -- I don't know about the new Euro Airstreams but I'd want to be proven otherwise. There are a few hard to find mentions of custom 3 door Airstreams with 2 curbside and 1 front streetside doors. Last month I tried like the dickens to find a post that mentioned one for sale in one of the 4 Corners states -- couldn't find it. Personally I'd like to hear more stories of people voting in Airstreams -- true Americana! ...er, Britannia!

The door is on the USA curb side. If it was on the other side, it would look like this.

It looks identical to my 1972 Tradewind. Except for the hubcaps. Looks like they got stolen form an 80's custom VW Beetle.

There really have been some unusual purpose Airstreams. I originally had thought Rich Luhr was making it up that there was a funeral Airstream. What are some other peculiar or odd ball Airstream uses? Anyone know of any we may not have heard about?

NPR and a group of other organizations I can't remember are using two to travel the country and collect stories (oral traditions, etc). The are set up as mobile recording studios. I saw this in last month's Dwell magazine.

I'd love to hear the stories they are collecting. Will there be a series of radio shows or a documentary or book?

Brits always a day late

Regarding post #1, there never seems to be a sperm crisis anywhere around my Airstream.

It looks like a TW

It does look like a 72 TW, but I thought the front running light was a bit forward??

Does this enhance the value as a multiple mission trailer? I better check and make sure mine is still in the shed!
