2013 AS to be Fiberglass

That's right, just got off the phone with Jackson Center. I was trying to get some info on what will be new for 2013 when I expect to order a new one. Due to the cost of aluminum and how easily fiberglass is to repair Airstreams from 2013 on will be skinned with fiberglass. So order the 2012's if you want it to shine.

Fiberglass

With the new 2013 models, Airstream has changed all tooling to conform to the Metric System of measurement. Also exterior construction is not all true fiberglass, as the upper walls and roof are a solar collector that comes in 2 meter sections, and made in China. These sections can only be replaced at the factory, but the good news is they are leak free.
More info to come.
Dave

After seeing a photo of a real 90's fiberglass white box Airstream trailer yesterday I was hooked pretty good by this one.

Actually it just the axles that will be fiberglass rendering Henschen, Dexter and Axis axles obsolete so no more axle wars...

Not to worry about the shine.

I'll be selling a polishing kit that will make that fiberglass shine like chrome.
