Help Help Help!!!
Okay you all are going to think I'm just crazy. We have had problems with leaks and thought we had found them. The weather has been plum crazy here with major rain storms and now it is to cold to caulk. So we covered our 31 ft sovreign with a huge tarp (I no it's a big no-no) but we have searched and searched for rv storage inside it's just not in our area. Okay so today I went in and guess what I found a LEAK. I knew we had a leak around the front window, but now the tarp is covering half of the window it likes about 12 inches from covering the whole front window. The tarp also comes down all the way on both sides.
I never new water could run up. Does anybody have any idea where this water is coming from. Thanks in advance for any ideas i'm at wits end.

Becky,
Is the leak to one side or front and center...The wing windows themselves are suspect, the gasket on the front window, and depending on how far down the water is showing up the plug where the pigtail goes in. These are a few of the places I found. Also if the leak is way down low it could be coming in at the extrusion between the sides and the belly pan.
Got Pictures?

It's also possible that the tarp is not completely waterproof, leading to.....you know. Have you tried the old standby? Duct tape and some large plastic trash bags? I wouldn't put the duct tape on the aluminum, tho.
Pictures, pictures.

Aaron,
The spot is if you are standing facing the gaucho on the right side under the window. Will get my husband to take some pictures and post, but it will be in the morning.

Becky,
I would suspect the window itself if it is the wing window. I will wait on the pictures. I have a solution that worked for me...complete with pictures

Jim,
I am in full agreement with the duct tape. However they do make an Aluminum Foil Tape that works great for quick repairs on Airstreams and other surfaces. And it is silver

I'd check
I'd check your roof antenna, or even as far back as your AC. You'd be amazed on where water comes from on an AS.
Good luck.

Well guys after I read Aarons post I went out and looked again and I think I may have found the culprit THE PIGTAIL it's about 42 here now so I applied some vulkem and we will see.
That has to be the spot cause the tarp is pretty much covering everywhere else except about 12 inches of the front window and down where the pigtail is.
The tarp stated waterproof and it should be for the price. Thats one good thing about Katrina since we live in Mississippi all our stores stocked up on large tarps.
Still will post some pictures in the morning.

What about where the power cable from your TV plugs into the trailer?

Found it.
I'm so proud of my husband and myself. That dad blasted leak has been found. We were at the point of just giving up yesterday. Last night we decided to get up this morning, take the gaucho out and find that leak and we did!!! The gaucho came out with ease and then my hubby went through the floor what a laugh. So he decided to take his anger out with a hammer and we got the whole 3 ft section out all the way down to the belly pan. So after getting all that mess out of the way, I went out and started with the water hose and we found it. Some po had installed peck gaurds on the front
and the one on the right side was installed on a seam so down toward the bottom the water was coming, pouring in like a spout( has been for years it seems.
) So now to put the floor back in and get on with it.
Thanks to all,
The Lacy's
