I'll bet that I have the only '83 Sovereign ever made. Cuz I can't find any verification anywhere.

If That's the case, and I don't "doubt" you...How do you then know that..."Your's is an 83"??

Only '83 Sovereign

Cuz the VIN shows it to be a '83.
The Title shows it to be an '83.
But it's not in NADA, BLue Book or Airstream.
I really don't know where to go with this question.
Can you offer any suggestions?

Are you saying that Airstream can't give you a lead on it?

That would be a "first"...

83 Sovereign

No! Airstream only confirmed that a title with "D" designated a '83 model.
They could not tell me by the VIN the date of Mfg or how many were made in '83.
The only manuals available are for '82. Airstream said the manuals are the same for these models.
That does little to answer my original question.
I'd be happy to hear from another '83 owner.

83 Sovereign

Just inherited Mother In Laws TT, but am confused about why it is not listed anywhere. Documents say that it is a 1983 31' Sovereign, but we can't see that model in any web documentation. Any thoughts......

I see the 31' International, Excella and Limited listed on the Airstream faq trailer weights section. Maybe they didn't offer the entry level Sovereign that year since these are upgraded models.

We've wondered the same thing! We bought our Airstream last summer. It says Sovereign right on it, and the title states it's a 1983 model. The owner's manual we have from the previous owner is an Excella manual.

Does anyone know what's going on here?

Hello, Bob!!
I'm a 1983 Sovereign owner, too! We're confused here, too. Just went through our owner's manual tonight (It's an Excella manual), and I was wondering the same thing.

Do I really own an 83 Sovereign. It says "Sovereign" right on the side, and the title says 1983. Why can't we find info. on this model?

Now, there are two of us in this mysterious 1983 Sovereign club. Anyone else out there??

Phantom '83 Soverign 31'

Make that three. I bought mine this spring and everything says it is an '83 Sovereign 31'. I boughtit at a consignment dealer who handled the sale for the original owner.
This doesn't make a lot of sense - is Airstream that unorganized that they can't tell you if they made this year and model?

I am sure there has to be more than three of us.

83 or 84 Airstream Sovereign

I bought this trailer a month ago and the title says it is an 84 model Sovereign, 27 ft. The original owners manual says 1984 on the cover, but there is a plate on the front above the fuel bottles with a mfg. date of 8-10-83. Also on this plate is the weight and serial number.

Couple of possibilties...It might have been produced as an 84 model (kind of like cars) or it may have todo with when it was orginally sold and titled. And if it is an Excella the owners and repair manuals run a year behind. 83 Excella gets the 84 manual (at least the was the way it was working back in the late 70's)

Jethro,
Does it say International any where on the sides of it? Got pictures? From what I can figure out, they did not make very may plain Sovereigns. Most appear to be Sovereign Internationals, with Excella being the next most popular on the years it was offered.

July usually starts the new model year, so if it was built in August, it probably IS a 1984.

Howdy, all. I just got home this last Monday with my "new" 1983 Sovereign. Serial number is as follows:
1ST ABAR2 2 DJ501725 (from what I can read on this fine print Bill of Sale).

Barely made it up my driveway on 2nd try (gravel with steep incline, tail dragging, truck wheels spinning until they smoke. First time, when forward proigress stopped, I got pictures, then I backed down into neighbors drive and drove out and tried again. Got new rear tires Tuesday morning.).

31', rear twins (converted by PO to "queen"), center bath. My wife and I are loving it. (It's our 3rd now, selling the oldest one ('61 24' TradeWind) and "restoring"/rebuilding floor on '73 31').

No manual in trailer though.

Congratulations Phil and Sue. Linda and I have had ours a year now and we just love "Carmen O". We are heading to CA in a couple of weeks and will be in Perry for the WBCCI in June. Hope to see you if you are going. 1983 was a good year for Sovereigns even though they say they didn't make any that year.

Just an FYI, I think 1983 was the first year Sovereign was a trim level, and not an actual model.

Congratulations! And welcome to the Forums!

What configuration is yours? (That is, rear bath or center bath?) Attached is a pic of the fridge side looking back at the pantry and further-back closets toward the rear bedroom.
