Windows
On the curb side, just in front of the door, I notice some AS have one window, and yet others have the smaller window with the skinny window underneath (is this the vista window?), like those on the street side. I've seen pictures of either configuration on the same year and length of AS. Is the window configuration determined by the floorplan, or what?

The fixed window below the opening window is called a "stack" window.
The window above the opening window is called a "vista view" window.
The stacks are standard, the vista views on some models are optional.

On most older Airstreams, the window next to the main door has two optional windows, one above and one below it. The upper window is a Vista View, the lower window is a stack window.
Being equipped with one, the other, or both are subject to trim level, selected options, and model.

Thank you both for responding. Now, a more difficult question. If a 1987 Excella 32' had the Stack window option, what trim or option package would it have?

Only the vista views windows were an option.
The stack windows have a metal trim close out installed on the inside of the trailer.

You are better off without the Vista View windows because they tend to leak.

The large window on some models to the right of the door, it's the inside layout that determines what size this window is. It's my understanding that if you have the 32' with a dinette you have the small window. Large window no dinette in the 32' Excella.

Thanks, Mini Cooper. I sure wish I could my hands on a 1987 brochure. The information on the Airstream site is very vague.

So, maybe I should have had a change order and eliminated the Vista View windows because they "leak" -- or better yet have NO windows at all and remove all those potential leak sources before they leak. Come on folks...

Of course, of course.
Hopefully, mine too.
A good part of life is finding answers to problems.
Hey, if we had no problems, life would be boring.
