Seriously Looking @ '87 Excella ..

Hola..Airstreamers....I am in the process of looking @ a 33 footer in San Diego....It is pretty clean with newer awnings....the price is in the $13,500 range any thoughts?...I would probably rip out the carpet and put in hardwoood or comparable flooring..and completely check out the appliances and new couch along with a new microwave..What I was curious about was is that the current owner said that the the holding tanks ...clear..grey and black had a huge amount of storage gallonage which threw me off could it actually be in the hundreds?...Anybody available to do a once over with me in San Diego?...Thanks Ernesto 858.538.4424

I bet if you call Airstream they can tell you what size the tanks were on that trailer. Their number is 937 596-6111. They have a good customer service department. They've always been helpful with me.

Arrow Fresh water holding tank

The fresh water capacity is 55gal. Sorry, but can't remember the capacity of grey and black, but it is less than that. Just looked in my owner's manual: Main holding tank side bath 30, main holding tank rear bath 20. Auxiliary holding tank side bath 35, aux rear bath 20.

I sure wouldn't have guessed there was that difference.

Now which is grey and which is black is something you'll have to find out from someone else. Smile. Owners' manual doesn't say.

Airstreams are not known for their large holding tanks. They are known for a lot of other nice things though. Also, I don't think they made a 33 footer but maybe. Not a big deal but the price seems about right. Pay for what you see based on NADA and I think they go back that far. On a 10 year old unit, you will not get too many surprises but they creep up with age just from normal deterioration.

I just looked thru my stuff and found a brochure of the year 1988 and they made a 32 and 34. The tanks are as follows for both units:
Fresh water=50 gallon
Gray water=30 gallon
Black water =35 gallon

I think the sizes were the same for the 87 year also.
