Broken interior door handle

I knew it would happen. I broke the inside door handle off. Instead of
closing the door by the sceen door handle I would close it using the
small case aluminum handle on the latch itself.

Well it finally broke off. My new door handle is a pair of pliers. Any
suggestions on how I go about finding a new one?

I mailed a few airstream dealers and they don't seem to carry parts
for anything older than 4 years. Keep in mind I live in the middle of
nowhere.

I can post pictures if it would help in locating the part.

Thanks,

What is the size of the "knuckle" that the handle attaches too?

Thanks! I'll jot that number down for when the whole door
latch breaks or I lose the key to the dead bolt. But for now
if at all possible I'd just like to get a replacement part.

That one does look nice though.

Ken J:

The handle really attaches to the square rod that seems to go all the
way through the mechanism like a common door knob. I would say the
rod is probably 3/8 inch square. I'll get some exact measurements
tonight though.

thanks,

I'll try anything at this point, if it doesn't work I'll just replace the
whole mechanism.

Thanks,

dale

Nope. InlandRV has a kit to replace the whole latch for $139. It requires a modification
to the door though. And it works on all Airstreams 1978-1991 from what they say.

I am sort of waiting until after Christmas before I deal with it.

Want me to let you know how it goes?
