Just rec'd mine. What a great read! I find the mechanical descriptions very enlightening. How far technology has come!

Thank you so much, Rich, for doing this!

I've been devouring my copy and I'm most impressed by how you can really get a feeling for the kind of guy Wally must have been...I mean, lets face it, the guy started a CULT! He must have really believed in "trailering" to develop such a product and then convince people what a gas it is. And that really comes through in his writing.

He was really all about hitching up and hitting the road. I think he walked the walk and didn't just talk the talk.

Great to read about the first caravan, how he tried to line everything up in advance, and then his disappointment at seeing them bellyache about every little inconvenience, which led to his "democratic" approach on the next one where nobody paid anything in advance and you had to take care of your own business. That was the one where the "town hall meeting" approach was started, everyone in a big circle and voting yea or nay, one person - one vote.

The 1949 version is even more "enlightening"...how rustic things were back then and what an amazing luxury it was to travel in an Airstream at the time. Also how non "politically-correct" things were...

Here is a bit of info that those of you with the books may want to know.

If you would like to have the 3 guys that made this happen all autograph your book they will be doing a book signing at Alumapalooza. There may not be a chance for a few years to get all three together at once.

So bring your copy and they will all autograph it, there will be a few available for sale, but do you really want to wait five weeks to get yours?

Find out more about Alumapalooza at www.Alumapalooza.com and order your book here.

FYI: the Byam books will be carried in the Airstream factory store in Jackson Center OH within a couple of weeks. So if you find yourself there waiting for service, walk over to the store and buy a copy... that ought to make the day pass quickly!

This is great news!
When is the book signing? Under the big tent?

Yes. Check your program; the book signing will be during the Swap Meet on Saturday morning. Pee Wee arrived on Monday night and seems to be doing the rounds, so you might get him to sign your copy earlier.

I'm about to order the Byam Books from Airstream Life. On the checkout page there is a field for a discount code. Does anyone know if the magazine gives a discount code within its pages? I have only to press the trigger. I am psyched. Yeah still snow! I need a good read.
