I have used the Trailer Life RV Campground Finder on CD for my last two long trips. It is terrific. I use a laptop computer on our trips and keep the CD in the player while we are on the road.
For times that we haven't called ahead, I simply point to where we are and ask for all the campgrounds within x miles and up they pop. Then a click on the location and we get the info on amenities, cost and directions and phone number(s).
I have used it also to map out an entire season of travel. The itinerary will give you all the routing for the trip with mileages and a total for the entire trip.
There is one thing one needs to be careful of. The routing to the overnight stays or to specific sites is problematic at best. Use the individual campground's directions because the itinerary software and database will sometimes send you on a wild goose chase when it comes to local road in places like Northovershoe ND.
Recently I thought I had a problem with a wheel bearing while we were near Savannah GA. I pulled off the road and asked the Finder what RV Services were available near the exit we were at. It gave me one which I called. It was 10 miles away. The service manager didn't have a mechanic on duty but told me where to take the trailer for a look-see. The place was about 2 miles from me. All turned out well for the bearing and having the CD available to search for help was a god-send. I think the CD goes for 19.95 and is well worth the price.
