recommend a catalog or two

I need to get a few RV parts catalogs; can anyone recommend some good ones to me so I can order them? I just need ideas of what there is out there and the prices.

Also, what are some recommended brands of:

refrigerators
ovens
water heaters

and every other single thing?

Also, your local dealer will likely be a distributor for either Coast or Stag Parkway and will sell you a copy of their catalogs (usually about $5.00). They have all of the little parts and pieces that aren't in the CW catalog. Those catalogs are true Parts Catalogs and are oriented to the parts manager. Amazing number of gizmos and replacement gadgets in there.

One more for strange retro-fitting things like alumunim extrusions, tambour doors, door hardware, sliding tracks, etc (since you are working on a retro for your interior) - Outwater Plastics. Kind of a hokey catalog but it's filled with a lot of very nice "where in the world are we gonna find this" type things. http://www.outwater.com/

Alan Crane is a great guy to deal with. They're in Vallejo, and the do not ship. You got to go and pic out a fridge and drag it home. I just bought a refrigerator for $ 600.00, completely rebuild, and literally like brand new. Not even yellowed on the inside, oh, and no Odor. It's a 2-door late model Dometic. A new one would have been over $ 1100.00 at Camping World.
I am also shopping for a stove, so i have no info for yo there, only that rvpartsoutlet have them. Not sure if I like, tough. I want a stainless steel one, like the one in my 71 Tradewind. No longer made, I am being told.
You can buy your converter from a forum member,i am going to today.
Anyways, I hope these will help you find some cool stuff.

Excellent; I signed up or bookmarked all those places. Vallejo is a 20 minute drive from here (unless there's traffic). We're looking into used too, new is just so high, higher than you'll ever pay for one in your house!

Keep me posted on the stove search; we're only saving money right now for it, but I'm shopping for info right now.

I was looking at used for the 1963 Overlander, but went the rebuilt route because it is literally like new, functionally. And he gives a 2 year waranty.
I am worried about used because of the care and cautions a propane refrigerator needs, at least in a totally mobile environment. ( level operation etc.)
Generally, I find better quality parts at independent RV supply stores, rather than Camping World or WalMart and the likes.
This mostly goes for unusual plumbing parts, electrical stuff, etc. Find the ones in your area and just pop in and check them out. They will have the special reduction adapter or the tooilet flange that will fit your old tank, or the faucet witht eh shower diverter, or all that odd-ball rv stuff.

Good advice. Just for shopping purposes, how do I find out what size my trailer needs or can handle, of refrigerator and stove? I have the manual but no sizes are mentioned for either. I need to know prices so we can make decisions. I guess we can go into some places and see them in person?

one more idea on parts. Sonny's Camp n Travel Mart in Charleston SC has a ton of parts. They do a lot of insurance rebuilds and repairs as well as salvage and have piles and piles of common items.

They also own an AS dealership in SC so I'm sure they have more stuff up there too.

RV stoves are standard size, varying only in height. This means your oven section is either tall or not. Most cook tops on new stoves have 3 burners, instead of 4. I prefer the 3-burner layout, because large pans do not fit well on the 4-burner stoves. This way the large pan can go on the front single burner. I am having problems with my culinary expressions with the 4 burner in the tradewind....
Refrigerators are closely sized alike, usually need 24 inches of depth,. 21in or 23.5in wide and are really only appreciatelvely different in their height. If you're building new cabinetry, then you can go either way. My tradewind has a 5cuft fridge, the freezer door is inside the main compartment. The "new" trailer will get a 6cuft. with the freezer having it's own separate door. More room for beer below...

This on-line catalog is neat~I've found alot of "vintage" items in it~
It would seem that even A/S used it at some point because, I've seen references to "Airstream" for certain parts listed.
By looking close, you'll also be able to recognize em.

Their prices are good, indeed. You will have local sales tax, though, if you pick a dealer in your own state.

I don't suppose we could use a regular refrigerator in the trailer? One that just runs on electric, and is small? Are there downsides to that?

One of the beauties, to me, of owning a trailer is being able to park it just about anywhere and putting it to good use. Without a gas-able fridge your limiting yourself to available electricity where you camp.

This is kind of true, don't forget you can use ice when off of the net. We have an old "dorm" fridge and it works fine, looks hideous. But it's saving us the 800-1000 right at the moment. It's a thought that you could put it off until last as I'm sure you have a lot to do and buy!
