Chairs

And another thing... the chairs have got to be more comfortable than any dinette. You can move them, you can take them outside, and notice... they fold up.

You can add vista views, however the major pain is going to be finding and adding the internal sliding shade. I also noticed that the one in the pictures has a 3rd window on the road side. The 70's only have 2 there.

Yes I have substantial storage under the seats of the dinette.
Ok how did I get italics?

My 1964 came with a drop-down table that can slide side-to-side in a similar position, although the amount of sideways movement is much less than in the 31':

If I'm remembering right, there wasn't enough space around it to put 4 chairs in there - two people would have to sit on the couch at the front, but two others could sit facing. Or you could slide it all the way to the left and sit on chairs in front of the couch, I think - but definitely not as much room around it as that 31' (not surprisingly). It also has two removable leaves. The whole thing stows away under that shelf on the left there.

Great idea to have such convertable space. I wonder why the chairs are different from each other, one set looks like it has plumper seat cushions, perhaps to suit your seat convertability?

Perhaps you could revamp an existing layout...You could use the standard dinette seating with understorage, and put these on 'inlaid' floor tracks??? Just an idea. I know it would prove to be difficult for the whole couch/dinette seat combo, but perhaps the dinette seat affixed to the wall would stay fixed, and the other dinette seat could 'pivet' or 'slide' on a track. Now THAT would be something. (I could draw a diagram if what I wrote doesn't make sense)

Looks to me that two are the Leg-O-Matic folding type and two aren't.

I see, you stow 2 away and the others remain out. It certainly allows for plenty of flexibility to become whatever space you might need.

I like that layout. It means not tripping over the labs on the way to the loo at 0430 in the morning. They can be out of the way. A real big advantage when there are two 90lb dogs on the floor.

I saw this sliding table track idea in an SOB trailer that I was working on, but they used it on a front dinette, like the one in my 19CCD. It slid side-to-side and made it easier to get into the dinette, or made one side a couch with a lot of room. It also swung down for a bed.

I mentioned this to gmorris as a suggestion for Jackson Center, as it would make the front dinette area much more versatile, especially in the smaller size units like mine. I might be doing this mod in the next month or so and if it works out, I'll post some shots.

I would rather see all 4 chairs being the foldaway type. I wouldn't want the other two chairs roaming loose while underway. Also, for as much $$$ as the coach costs, I would want matching chairs.

Ageed---We were in one too. At first It seemed like a neat idea. I think now it was just that it was different that caught our eyes. Two things come to mind; the storage issue is the main reason it would'nt work for us. The floor plan gives up over half the storage in a 30-31' model, which is minimal to begin. There are no roadside upper cabinets, credenza, and with no dinnette no drawer under the seats. 2ndly , at least for me when we were in it I had the feeling of being in an empty shell, cold and stark. Perhaps with some decorating it would feel different and may work for some but it's definatly not a fit for us.------- pieman

Hi, I agree that all four chairs should be the folding type or at least make all four chairs look alike. [Two folding and two non-folding made the same shape and size.]
