That makes a difference for me.

Hi, I would say yes to 4,000 lbs GVWR for towing and when you don't have the stabilizer jacks lowered.

On the 22 foot unit the base weight is 3300 pounds and the GVWR is 4000. That gives you 700 pounds to play with. The numbers on the 17 foot unit are even less with only a 500 pound margin.

If you go with the AC, awning and microwave subtract another 200 pounds.
60 pounds of propane and 30 gallons of water (not sure of tank size) and you need to suntract another 300 pounds.

With just those items you have maxed out the 17 footer and the 22 footer has only enough capasity for 200 pounds of other stuff.

Has anyone else looked at these numbers????

There is one number that most posters are overlooking. Tongue weight. If you take a 4000# trailer, tongue weight is 4-500 LBS depending on the % you use to calc. This is weight that is transferred to the TV, giving more capacity. This may also be the difference in the ratings for Canada vs. US models. Same components, different way of doing the rating (SWAG on my part).

sorry brett, i don't think so....

this seems to be a common myth/misunderstanding.

tongue weight is included in the gvwr and rightly so...

the trailer frame/running gear still carry it and w/d gear actually INCREASES the stress on the frame/tongue/axles.

perhaps you'd like to explain this further...
