New Inventor

As a new inventor/manufacturer/businessman, I have been asked by one of your forum subscribers to enroll to your forum so that I might be able to answer some of your questions, regarding my new product.

Our business name is Hell-ya Productions, Inc., and our product is called the Hell-Ya Hitch Helper, a device that fits into the 2" receiver hitch of a vehicle, and with the aid of a small tire running on the ground, levels your ride, whether you are hauling or pulling a heavy load. This product helps keep the front end down on the road, providing better steering and braking, helps control trailer sway, and vastly reduces front end "hop". Please view our website at www.hell-ya.com. We have been in business since November 2005 and have approximately 150 units in 20 states and 2 foriegn countries.

We offer a single wheel unit and a dual wheel unit for heavier loads. In the near future, we want to offer a small unit for the Explorer, S-10, Durango, mini-van types, and this winter we want to introduce a model for the motorhome market. Please feel free to contact me with any questions.

I don't see a castering mechanism...wouldn't backing be problematic?

Steep Driveways

I was wondering. How does handle a steep driveway. I would be concernced that a the dip in the driveway would cause an excessive load on that region.

This unit does not caster, as backing up would be a problem. There is a minimum amount of play in the stem and the receiver to allow the wheel to track when turning and limiting the amount of tire scrub.

As for going thru a dip, you would approach the dip at a slower rate of speed without the hitch helper, and as long as you were slowed down with this unit, it should not raise your back end too much. There is about 2" of travel allowed before your vehicle suspension takes over.

Hell-Ya Hitch Helper

Hi, I don't think my Equal-i-zer Hitch would be as effective with one more piece installed in between my tow vehicle receiver and hitch. With some play [not a tight fit] between hitch and receiver now and then add another piece in between? As for backing or any other turning, with these wheels that close to the rear wheels of the tow vehicle, I don't think that would be much of an issue. I don't like the idea of those tiny wheels spinning at freeway speeds. I would also think it would be better [if used with a travel trailer] to adjust the helper wheels about two inches off of the ground so as to only work on dips, driveways, and uneven roads; otherwise stay off of the street until needed.
Bob, Make shims or some other way to make your invention mount solidly to receiver to eliminate extra play.
I think you have a good idea, but needs more thought and real world testing. [Via consumer]

How is this product different from the slimp wheels used with trailers in the '50s? Besides fitting on the trailer tongue instead of the hitch.

Welcome to the Forums Hell-Ya-Bob! Glad you're here.
Folks Bob brought this product to the Minnisotta Inventors Congress last month and was very well recieved.
One of our forum members is about to receive her Hitch Helper up in NY state and I'm certain will give us her feedback soon.
Take a look at the web site for applications and info.
Once again I don't have any interest in Hell-Ya but have met Bob and his wife, who are very nice folks indeed.
