I looked at my Airstreamer Newsletter last night announcing the new site launch. The site didn't look any different last night .... but today! Go check it out folks -- the new Airstream.com is up and running.
Gene, I regularly refer to the information in the old Airstreamer or customer area, especially the FAQs. That's not there now -- I looked at the site map, used some of the old URLs, etc. Can you find out if they intend to have that up any more?
Thank's for the way you treat us -- your customers!
Hmmmm....
I see no difference at all...
Jim

Ditto...auugghh...WHAT DIFFERENCE....I just looked...It is the same as its been since...a...2006 with just the NEW models added this summer..and some...NOT ALL price updates....NOTHING NEW.
I know..I have it...THERES ANOTHER AS SITE ON ANOTHER INTERNET THAT I DO NOT KNOW ABOUT??????
As with the launch of any new website, it may be sporaic the first couple of days ~
Personally, I'm a little concerned about all the goodies that are missing - like all the trailer reference materials (eweights, capacities, sizes, etc.) that used to be in the "Airstreamer" section. Hope those resources are only being re-vamped and not gone forever!

All I know is when I go to: www "dot" Airstream "dot" com it is different, totally different. All the familiar links are gone and the "Buzz", "Airstreamer", "Search" features are gone. If the page I see now (below) was there before, I never saw it.

Their online store is a mess IMHO. Items are scattered mumbo jumbo in the categories and sub-categories, making it hard to find a particular item. Maybe that’s why so any people are buying accessories on eBay at jacked up prices rather than buying directly from AS.
For instance, is a pink flamingo a gift, toy, camping item or part? They have them listed under Parts/Exterior.
Our little store has a search engine to help customers locate a particular item via a keyword such as keychain.
To search for an item in their store, you have to know which category to search.
I know this isn't a thread for intro's, but since this is my first post, I feel obligated to give a brief one: Young'un here (30-year-old) professional graphic designer. Don't own an airstream yet, but the plans are for husband and I to sell our townhouse, buy a 27-28' International CCD, and live and work from it while travelling the US for a minimum of a year until whenever we've had enough. We'll work from the airstream.
As someone who has launched sites, I know how much work goes into launching a site. I also know that you DO NOT announce the launch of a site until the site has gone live, and you DO NOT launch a site until it is ready and functioning near its full capacity. Of course there will be glitches and tweaks after the site is launched, but this site is missing half its content, and for the rest of the content, there is hardly anything new-- only minor updates and a redesign of the content they already had in place. I'm utterly confused as to why they'd decide to launch a site in this state.
The photos for the CCD are identical to those that were already on the CCD's micro site. Where are '08 photos? Half of the floor plans simply do not exist. I filled out the form to download the '08 brochures and have yet to receive an e-mail providing me with the links. Is it even programmed to process automatically, or is someone back at airstream manually receiving mail forms and manually sending out links? Crazy?
I commend Velocity7 for the redesign they did back in '05 (?? '04??). I think it perfectly captured the mood and American Iconic vision of Airstream. My guess is that they got some internal "webmaster" to do interem updates (like adding the new micro site links to the home page), and whoever did those missed out on any continuity with the original design. I think the look and layout of the new design is strong; I'm just completely bemused by their choice to launch it in such mishappen state. We've waiting years for an update; I think we could have waited a couple months more to get a fully functioning site complete, accurate and updated content.
I was so excited when I received the newsletter that the site had been updated, then so disappointed when it was exactly the same. Then I was excited a few hours ago when I saw the change had finally taken place, and then disappointed to see how superficial that change actually was.
