Looking for resources in Upstate NY

Hi there!
My husband and I are spending the summer trying to get our airstream up and running and are having trouble getting the whole project started.

We were wondering if anyone knew of airstream resources, service centers or just good folks in the Capital District, Hudson Valley or general upstate area that might be able to give us advice or help get us started.

Thanks so much for any advice.
Caroline

Hi Caroline,

first off, I won't assume you know of the three main places for A/S parts:

inlandrv.com
airstreamdreams.com
and of course, airstream.com

Inland has the cream of the crop of old parts, and you can always check ebay.

If it's just general stuff, are you looking to do it yourself or have someone do the work for you?

If you're a do-it-yourselfer, then read, read and read some more on this forum for tips, how-to's and just plain inspiration for getting it up and running.

And ask, people will always be willing to lend you advice.

John

Burnbound,

Did you have any luck with finding assistance? I'm in the same boat, A 68 Caravel with alot of needs and not sure where to go for quality assistance. I'm in the Catskills. Plattsburg is a little bit of a hike.

Google Airstream.com , you can locate dealers by state. Depending on what you are looking for there are probably other members near you . Many of the systems in an AS are the same as other RV's and any good dealer can service them. Good luck.

Try Colin at GSM

Our 1958 Sovereign of the Road is at Colins undergoing a major restoration. He has 18 trailers in the parking lot right now - of which 5 are his (lol). I am in central NY, between Oneonta and Cortland and have had a few Airstreams myself. 1958 SOTR, 1965 Caravel, 1965 Globetrotter, 1967 Trade Wind, 1975 Argosy 22, and a 1985 34' Limited. We are having a rally in North Norwich, NY 13814 in June 1-4 - come on over and up! I have the Caravel in Virginia right now (where I am) working on it, trying myself to get it ready for the WDCU Cherry Blossum Rally, April 6-9.

Good Luck.

Rob

Burning Man is an ..............E-X-P-E-R-I-E-N-C-E

If you go, you will have either the BEST time or the WORST time!

Try Googling it....

It is definitely not a Rally in any conventional sense of the word.....

Welcome to the Forums!

Chevy Ave

You'll be able to see our 65 Jeep Wagoneer (if I get my rear quarter panels in time) at the Cherry Blossum Rally April 6-9 that Chevy Ave Restoration completed. It's like new! They are a one stop shop! They'll also be doing our 58 IH Travelall too! For our SOTR! Their Sovereign and our Jeep will be at the Pageant of Bands Rally, June 1-4, in North Norwich, NY. Come on up!
