Installation of a French Ceiling in an Airstream
When Barbara Brown from Brown Architect in Sausalito California contacted us we thought the projects was a great chalange. Our product, the stretched ceiling, has been applied in residential, commercial, hospitality but this was a first. We enjoyed doing it and now the client goes around the US with her French Ceiling

??? Sounds interesting, but do you have pictures so we can see this product? Has it been used in an Airstream? Is it different from the stretched vinyl with foam backing that is in many of our units? Wondering. . .~G

You need to explain how a stretched ceiling works on the curved overhead of an airstream trailer.
Otherwise it sounds like a total mistake.

I need pictures to understand this. As a classless cretin I don't know what a French ceiling is. However I am always interested in something new.

Interesting stuff...
Just how relevent this product is for the typical Airstream remains to be seen but it is a pretty interesting product. If I understand the process, I gather that the way that a ceiling could be installed to fit a curve would be for the track to be curved. In an airstream I could conceive of the track being installed at each end of the trailer (just before the curves of the end caps) so that the track follows the curve from on side up and over to the other side. That way I suppose it would actually be possible to install the French ceiling from floor level on one side, up the wall, across the middle and down the other side to the floor. That would make it possible to have a clean single sheet surface covering most of the inner skins. I don't know if the process could be applied to the end cap areas though.
In another thread I have asked the question about what type of materials to use for interior partitions. It seems to me that it might actually be possible to use this type of track and vinyl to add a wall across the Airstream.
Anyone have any idea how expensive this stuff is? Is it available from anyone in a DIY form?
Malcolm

Reminds me of a post I made, awhile back, after having a few cocktails, about putting a drop ceiling in. No one seemed to appreciate my humor. I looked at it the next day, and neither did I. Oh well.......
Anyway, looks like interesting stuff, but not in mine. I might think about it for the diningroom ceiling in my house though. T

But seriously, they should attach breathlyzers that deny access to computers to help keep the inebriated away from the keyboard. The problem is far more widespread than you might think.

Lost in space
Hi, after reading all eleven posts and going to the web site, I have no idea, what-so-ever, what you are talking about.
Under Features and Benifits; It states, it's a good way to cover up ugly and damaged ceilings. And the picture of the indoor tennis court, looks like the inside of my Safari except with track lights.
Please show pictures of what you are talking about. Inquiring minds would like to see what you are talking about.

I agree with Dave, but I thought it was called PUI. ..
I should have looked up more when I visited France. The only ceiling I looked at was at Notre Dame. It is a work of art, but would not work well in my Trade Wind.

Just one look and I have abandoned my idea of bricking the interior of my Sov. Just kidding, everybody knows bricks keep in too much heat
Would be cool to see the first mention application...might work well in my other passion, my ole LoneStar alum. boat. Lots of plastic

Bad Idea?
An all PVC interior or a PVC ceiling, Here in the High Desert the inside temperature would probably warp it while the trailer was not being used. I would think hard about using this product in a trailer, it was intended for larger spaces that are a little more climate controlled.

Here's a picture.
It looks like it works the way Malcolm described.
A lot of cutting to fit around vents, A/C, and other ceiling fixtures. I think I'll leave mine as is.
Nice cabinetry.
