Never met Andy, never bought anything from him, but I will if the chance arises. But I ALWAYS read his posts. They're sometimes blunt, often funny, always informative. The guy's a fountain of knowledge that he's gotten the hard way over the years.

Hat's off to you, Andy.

Inland Andy is "Mr Airstream" in my book!

He's no brag...just fact...

No BS, No guessing, just knowledge! He's the literal been there, done that Airstream guy.

I've wanted disc brakes on my Classic since Rich Luhr put them on his and put the aritcle in A/S Life. I checked with a few dealers in northern California and no one had done it, some had no clue what I was talking about and one said "We'll sure figgeritout"...not on my trailer you won't.

Andy has all the stuff to do it and this August I'm taking my Classic the 300 and sumpthin' miles from Sacramento to his shop and leave it for a week while they put my brakes on because I know it'll be done right.

Thanks Andy...You're the best.

Inland Andy got me squared away before I left TN. for AZ. to pick up my ebay purchased '77 Excella 500 eight years ago. It had the Hydra-vac disc brake system and he recommended a brake controller and other items I then purchased from him. They arrived in the nick of time for me to do the install on my truck for the long drive. While he made a sale, I picked his brain on how the brake system worked and where I could get parts should a problem occur. I've bought other parts since then and his responses on the forum to posts have enlightened me considerably. Blunt, I like blunt when it hits the nail on the head and covers the point. Andy has been courteous to me when I have phoned and he has answered my PMs when they were sent. He is a knowledgeable person and I can sure appreciate that he is willing to share that knowledge with this forum.

Rivet Agreed

I want to add my thanks to Andy. I haven’t done business with Inland, yet, but I agree that I always check out his replies. I have learned so much from his posts. (Towed for years with improperly balanced running gear, and can see the results. I know better know.)

Have a great weekend, Andy. I hope you are getting better.

I know that not all share my thoughts about Andy. Some can and have taken him wrong. If I recall, he's a New Yorker and those that know Yorkers or Jersey folks, not being from there, they can and have been at times misread.

Speaking strictly on my exp with Andy, he's been great guy to bounce ideas and get answers from. I may not have liked the answers, but it was what it was.

A few years back, Andy got on the overhitched bandwagon. I, at first did not pay much attention to it, because I had a 19' Bambi with friction sway, 1200lb bars to make up what I now know was a good setup for my VERY soft suspension at that time.

I got a truck, 3/4 ton truck, after less than great results towing my new 04, 25 footer with my sup'd up car. I upgraded to a dual cam sway control and though I bought the dual cam system and installed it, I used my orig 1200lb bars and noticed that on the truck the sway was not working all that well and the truck blow by was pretty bad.

I started to ask questions here and was quickly pointed to the are you overhitched thread. To my shock and somewhat horror, I had been way overhitched. So I shot Andy a few PMs and bought some lighter bars off eBay. Starting with 800lb bars, then going to the 600lb bars. The 600s were just what the doctor ordered. Control, stability and no sway were back in my life.

Flash forward about 3 months after getting the 600lb bars and my conversations here and with Andy.......

My two brothers and I took at 850 mile round trip to Pictured Rock in the UP of MI (beautiful area BTW). A deer, without ANY pre-warning or advance notice of any kind jumped out in front of my rig at 55mph from the woods that followed right next to the road. I had seconds to react. Hit the brakes, as quickly, moved the steering wheel quickly, but not abruptly, and the truck and the Airstream felt like a single piece of metal. I was able to swerve around the deer for the most part, nick it deer in the rear end, the deer got up, ran off, the truck just had some fur caught in it, but no damage to either truck, Safari or the deer.

Almost a year to the day, I was on my way home from a weekend type trip. The Interstate was under construction, some clown decided not to yield as they were required on the on ramp, and then decided to yield after they got on the traffic lane, stopping right on the expressway. Again, same type of manuvering. If there had been a fly between the my entire rig and this near 3 car pile up, it would have died from a lack of oxygen.

Did Andy save my life by pointing out the error of my ways? Perhaps he did, maybe he didn't. In the second story, he clearly saved someone's life with 7 tons moving 55mph. In both stories, the proper hitch setup he suggested clearly saved tens of thousands in property damage and months of heartache in claims, repairs and most likely a total loss truck and Safari.

Thanks, Andy, for all you contribute to the Airstream world! When I need some serious work done on my CCD, I'm making the drive down to Inland RV.

Actually, in a recent conversation I had with Andy about new axles for my trailer I learned, among many other valuable insights, that he did reside and work here in Texas, in San Antonio in fact, for quite a long time. We're sorry to have lost him. Fortunately not completely thanks to the postal system! Speaking for myself I consider Andy to be "one of our own!" Andy's straight shootin' and no BS'n are very much appreciated in this neck of the woods!

Muchas gracias, amigo!
