Welcome to the forum. You can find many people in SO. CAL. who can fix you right up, all you need is the cash. Try a search on the forum for your subject matter.
The only one I know off the top of my head is Inland RV in Corona Ca. Andy can do it for you also.

Vintage Vacations-

Vintage Vacations - www.vintage-vacations.com - is located in Santa Ana, CA. Though very, very pricey, they do a great job. But I would contact Andy at Inland RV first..... Depending on the age and condition of the unit that you buy, you might end up running up a pretty big tab..... Sorry to be such a downer, but if you are unable or choose not to renovate yourself, you are looking at some heafty labor costs. Spend some time reading the forums and you will get a better......

In the mean time, welcome to the forums and enjoy reading (and asking questions!).

Good luck-
Barb

While I can't speak from personal experience, I have heard good things about another California-based shop that does restoration-refurbishment work - - Iowa Boys - - located in North Hollywood.

Another option, if you aren't do-it-yourself inclined as I am not, is to act as a "general contractor" and select specialists to do your restoration/refurbishment. In my case, I found a Vintage-Friendly Airstream dealer who has handled the maintenance/replacement on all of the appliances as well as running gear/frame/body issues, and accessory upgrades. Then I took my Overlander to P and S Trailer Service in Helena, Ohio for polish and Plasticoat restoration. A trip to Fowler Interiors in Symsonia, Kentucky completed the restoration/refurbishment of my Overlander. I have been following the same path with my Minuet, with a new paint job being being the final major project that will be completed by a trusted local bodysho with a technician who has experience painting aircraft. This do-it-yourself approach as a "general contractor" of sorts, allows a litte more flexibility in spreading cost over a bit longer period of time.

Good luck with your plans!

Kevin

Northern California?

In addition to the 3 listed above in southern California (all are written up in great story in inaugural issue of magazine "Airstream Life" - see www.airstreamlife.com), there is another small shop in northern California (near Sonoma Valley) called Birchwood Beauties, that does similar restorations. Look at http://www.birchwoodbeauties.com/

There's no substitute for a large expense account to make a perfect trailer out of somebody's weathered hulk. but it is possible to divide it into parts as well and do sections or portions at a time using different shops as well.

You may also want to look at Vintage Airstream Club web site and classifieds (www.airstream.net) to see if one of the dozens of trailers listed for sale on their classifieds might meet your needs in its current condition..

Good luck, and welcome!

Try C&G Trailer Service in Bellflower, CA. Their number is 562 634-6286. CGTrailer@aol.com. They do restorations on Airstreams besides being an Airstream Service Center. They've been around about 40 years.

To all those helpful people we really apreciate all the info you have passed on to us ...which will assist us in our quest to have a comfortable airstream that will allow us to journey through this great country of ours ....We haven't decided on the lenth or what we would use to tow the airstream ....someone has suggested a disell either a Dodge Ram or Ford ...with an extra cab ...we don't think we really need a 4WD so I believe a 2WD will be out choice ...also we need to have a ramp welded onto the airstream for a Motorcycle 86' BMW kind of classic and don't really want to give it up ...any suggestions ...we live in Southern Ca. about 20 min from Disneyland just to give you an idea on our location .....thanks again to every one ....have a super day ..for a quicker response my email is INDY116@aol.com thanks
