Well, it's been a good idea for 50 years, I'm sure it'll wait another few.
Seriously though, extra kudos to Frank for helping get us a big chunk of the way there. We'll revisit this soon, and I'll see if I can get another quote for perhaps 20 covers. If everyone would be willing to pay a little bit more... we might been able to still eek this out, and I'll set the bar artificially lower by two covers and pledge for a couple myself.
Thanks everyone - I'll talk to the spinning company and keep you posted.

Thanks for all the hard work Brad, we'll make it happen eventually. As my wife says "don't you already have one?"

I was just searching the forums for spare tire cover. I didn't see this before, but I want one if it comes back to life.

Great! Subscribe to this thread, if you think of it - so you get updates.
I'm going to try and lower the minimum order amount but keep the price if possible. We were close to 20 orders by the end, and your order certainly will help tip the scales next time around.

'Tis true, I do have one - but just dig the idea of spreadin' the love.

I'll be waiting too! I was bummed when it didn't happen. I would think that people in the business of restoring (like Frank) would be jumping on this to have a few on hand. After all, it's a limited production and they could certainly mark it up. I know if I was a customer and hadn't gotten in on "the deal" I'd easily pay $375. It's the coolness factor ya know! Frank, I think you are a smart businessman! Even if you don't plan on marking them up, I think it counts that you are anticipating your customer wants.

Somehow, four different versions of the continental cover have accumulated onto my parts shelf. All four are aluminum, but they all have different detailing. I have been in touch with a local metal spinner and he tells me that the covers are no problem and he might even have the mold already. He has been promising to come by for a visit, but that has yet to happen. This has just not been a hot project for me, and that is why I have not hounded him to come by. Maybe I should call him on Monday.

Hi Frank--and others,
Frank, you've seen our trailer. Would one of the covers work for us? We're tired of carrying the spare in the back of the Excursion.
Thanks,
Sue
PS. It's Saturday morning and that means its BACON for breakfast!

That's great news, Frank. Do try and find out for sure if the mold already exists... it would obviously save me money (and therefore lower the price on these) if that's the case.
I was planning on trying to resurrect the project now that we're heading towards warmer weather once again, but let's see what you dig up before I dive headlong into a considerable upfront expense.

Shelly, I just began the process of trying Kickstarter again!
Hopefully this time we'll have a few more brave souls on board, as we weren't that far off by the end of last summer's attempt. Until Amazon's tax information for me has cleared, the project won't be live.
I'll keep you all posted. Thanks for the nudge!

I'm very interested as well. A friend of mine may be interested in a front mount one if that's an optino
