Airstates: A Better Brag Board

The moderators of Air Forums suggested I post here about a product I've made: Airstates USA Checklist. I'm appreciative of the opportunity to tell you about it.

What is Airstates?
Last year I met a fellow RV’er at Starved Rock State Park Campground in Illinois. He proudly showed me his “brag board”—a United States sticker map that traced where they’ve been so far in their travels. Each state he’d been to had a gem of a story.

I wanted a brag board too, but I wanted a design that would fit the style of our 19' Airstream Flying Cloud. Unfortunately, there aren’t any out there like that. That’s why I made the Airstates United States Checklist. It matches perfectly with your Airstream trailer—almost looking like it came that way straight from the factory.

Aluminum made (in the USA)
The Airstates Checklist is made from laser-engraved 0.025 inch thick aluminum. 4 pre-drilled holes for securing with 1/8" diameter rivets, soft rounded corners for a classic look. Use a Sharpie® marker to tick off a state after you’ve visited. Made in the USA.

Price: $100.00 Shipping and taxes included

Thank you
Thanks for taking the time to learn about this product I’ve made. If you have any questions please email Jamie (that’s me) at airstates@gmail.com.

Money-back guarantee: If you’re dissatisfied with my Airstates USA Checklist just send it back for a full refund. No questions asked. I hope you and your family enjoy (and brag about) the many adventures ahead. Happy travels!

That's cool! Very nice and professional looking. Have you thought about making plates for Canada and Mexico?

Nice idea, but frankly a bit steep on the price for what it is.

Thanks for the comments everyone!

Ideally I'd love to lower the price for the Airstates Checklist. Unfortunately I'm just a one-person shop and Airstates is a specialty item (not ordering huge quantities). I don't have much leverage to negotiate with my fabricator.

However, I hope that others find it unique and simple/classic enough to become part of their trailer—tracing travel memories along the way. Thanks all for taking a look!

P.S. No Canada or Mexico yet. I have to sell these USA ones! :P

Looks nice, but way too pricey for me. You should at least come up with a better way of marking off the states than using a sharpie. Maybe include a small embossing tool or small stickers.

For 100 bucks there are a lot of other things I need for my new Sport.

But for the Streamer who has everything, maybe you will make some sales. Good luck.

No way will I have four pop rivets projecting on the back side of my screen door, I will take the clean finish over the brag.

Shivtik, Thanks for the feedback. You can put this anywhere on your trailer. If you want to put it on the door (inside) at the bottom you can. If you want to put it inside somewhere you can as well. There is no rule that says you need to install it in a particular place.

What I love about it is that it's a (mostly) permanent record of where the trailer has been.

Fast forward 30 years and you might find future owners (posting on whatever version of these forums exist) about discovering their vintage Airstream's adventures... just as we love finding ghosts of water slide decals and caravan stickers.

Google 'letter punch' -- Jamie, any way you can include a letter-x punch with each order? Back it with a pine board and stamp an 'X' on each visited state. Hard to say how to do that after it is pop-riveted to a surface.

A twist drill with a stop at 1/16"?

Just thinkin' .... never failed to get me in trouble.

bredlo, Yes exactly! Thank you.

CanoeStream, I am thinking of alternate ways to "stamp" the state you've been to. Letter punch would be awesome... something more substantial than a sharpie. Have to come up with something less powerful though. Thanks for your feedback!

The start of a good idea. A vinyl decal that sticks to something would be cheaper and might sell better. That is what the USA map we see everywhere is like, I think. A decal could include Canada too. If you can get Airstream to sell it and can use their name on it, it would be easier to sell to Airstreamers.

One of those "paint pens" that they sell for touch-up to new cars wold be more interesting, and cleaner looking.

Or something that looks like rivets that glue on. It might look cool.

Nice idea, but certainly too pricey for me... and that's coming from someone who paid for a 2013 Flying Cloud.
I'll just continue with my Airstream Logbook.

Good idea, but way too expensive - with today's technology, I feel that if the high price is due to your supplier, then you are being ripped off! I'm afraid I won't be!
