Cool! Another long trailer owner! We really like our 34' specially since we installed the 2nd air. I'm planning on replacing the axles as soon as we swipe enough cookie-jar money.

Our main Airstream is a 66 Tradewind. We have a project thread titled Dan’s 66 Tradewind Improvements. It is built for boondocking.

Our 95 34’ is an Excella 1000 but didn’t see that year in the Excella 1000 category so put it in the Excella 94-96 category titled Dan’s 34’ Makeover. We didn’t care for the interior so we will be replacing the mouse fur with aluminum and the white, falling down, vinyl ceiling with aluminum plus some heart pine wood flooring. I tend to do things differently, so I plan on installing a mini split heat pump, disc brakes with new axles, lithium batteries and lots of solar. It will be a vintage Airstream before it is completed

I've been watching your Tradewind improvements, impressive. 2 of our trailers are setup for boondocking, the 3rd, our old '61 has no gray tank or solar and is still 100% old school lighting but it's fun to boondock sometimes. The '63 is a great boondocking camper, solar and lithium are the way to go but it's hard to beat the big tanks in the 34', and with 400 W of solar it does fine with 2X 6V GC power.

Yea, I'm at a loss for $$$ trying to keep tires on 3 Airstreams, 2 flatbeds, a truck and 2 cars that see regular use!

I just counted all the tires. If they age out at 4 years, I need to buy a tire per month. Uggg.

We love boondocking and the flexibility it gives for finding places to camp. Our 34’ will be set up with lots of solar and batteries. I agree the large tanks will be nice to have.

We plan to travel all over Florida in the winter time after my wife retires. I suspect we will do this in the 34’.

My initial plan is to swap tires between the Airstreams. We will see how that works.

HiHo

I guess that we will just travel with two spares. [emoji16] Not really, two of the tires will take a rest when we travel with the Tradewind.

Am considering a ‘91 Excella. Just spent an hour reading your thread to get a feel for possible risks. Don’t feel much better about those, but I laughed out loud a few times.

Glad the thread is somewhat useful, if nothing more than a laugh. We really like the big ‘ole thing and are looking forward to some spring time camping.

Those big early 90s Excellas are cool.
They give you that 5th Wheel feeling, lots of room.
