OK, I have to admit, that was my first thought upon seeing the photo.
I agree, nice use of what you have.

More prep work...
I HATE repacking bearings and adjusting brakes...but it's done.
New LED's for special lamps...
I have .3 amps of parasitic draw...
A pair of reading lamps over the Sofa pull 2.7 amps
The new LED's pull .2 amps
The color is just a bit different...

Ever wondered what's inside one of those $45 Everpure water filters?
Having one that I just replaced, and a bandsaw blade that was already wornout, I decided to cut it open and see what is inside...
Just a warning...
It pukes black crap everywhere...
I'm hoping the crude like grade of tar that squirted all over my work area is the activated charcoal and NOT stuff that was filtered from my water!!!
The to-do list is getting shorter...

Head for the Hills 2012!!!
Another road trip and we plan on taking our Blog (and y'all) along for the ride. The Mrs has been learning to edit Videos and if things work out, we may have a few on that "U Tube" thing...
Airstream Forums - HiHoAgRV
Just about all of the real prep work is done, now is the dangerious part...still a few days to go and that always spells trouble...we tend to start loading stuff that we don't really need, 'just in case'
The Big-O-34 may well be overloaded by the time we depart...
How about telling a 'yarn' about our route? As can be seen, the final leg still needs some work...

Nice yarn Vernon! I'll be keeping up with you. Looks like we'll be a bout a day behind you across Colorado. Maybe catch you on the return leg if you swing down to central Texas. Have a great trip!

Good to hear from ya'
Right now the pin is in Beaver OK, I saw some stuff about Sand Dunes there, I packed my ice chest, umbrella and swim suit...
We have a really bad case of travel-A.D.D. , tending to end up several states away from our 1st thoughts...
And we are open to suggestion!

OK... our WBCCI unit is having a campout at Lake Texoma next weekend, I was wondering if you were headed the same place... resolution on the map left that kinda vague.

A place called Big Mineral Resort & Campground.
I'm not sure I'm going to be able to go yet, but it's close to home so I hope to make it. It's the Heart of Texas Camping Unit, and we're a welcoming unit, so drop by and meet some real characters.

Oh, I thought you were lookin at the White stick pin, not the Yellow one just north of Dallas...
Hummm...I was looking for a good campground in that area for Friday night...I wonder if Big Mineral would have a spare spot for a wandering traveler?

That's OK, I was interested in the White one. I lived in Guymon for a while and then in the Texas panhandle, so I was interested. More over on the west side though.

They have 100 sites, HoTCU won't fill it even if we all show.

Thoughts or rationale for having metal valve stems? Less likely to leak...etc?

Less likely to leak or break off. The rubber ones have been known to blow out of the hole at high pressures or break.

2reasons,
1) with the weight of a pressure sensor hanging on the end of the valve stem, I didn't want the stem to Bend over at speed and flex the stem, and
2) they look cool.
I've had them installed for 25,000 miles ( on the same tires) and have had no issues.

Hey Vernon,
I was reading your thread here, and noticed you'd semi-polished the top of your Stream. How's it holding up? How much maintenance have you had to do to it to keep it looking good?
The LoveStream has the same Airstream Pettern Baldness, and I'm not looking for shiney, just a nice even bright/semi brushed aluminum look... close to what the fresh stripped areas look like. Was just wondering how it holds up without a clear coat over it.

Red,
I havent polished (now that I think about it, I may not have even washed ) the bare sections since I stripped them. They still look pretty good, much better than the peeling clearcoat mess. I did plan on hitting it with some tool box shine on the cyclo this fall but never got around to it.

Well, I guess I know what I'm doing to the top half of the LoveStream next spring... Lots still to do before worrying about the clear coat, but it's great to know there's a cure out there that doesn't involve re-coating it. Also, the wrap aluminum I'm using isn't coated, and I was worried what it was going to look like in six months.... As well as the banana skins that I had to strip black paint off of.
Thanks for the info!
