Condition of Clear coat

The top of my trailer is not holding up very well. The Clear coat has come off in severaly places. I have spot sprayed these areas but am not satisfied. The sides are ok. I understand that the new models have this area painted white(on the top). Does anyone have any experience with this as an alternative to recoating the whole thing?

James,

I recall some earlier posts on this site about painting airstreams. Search on paint. I would think the same information would apply for partially painting coaches.

Pre-painted aluminum is used for the top panel of newer airstreams. Only the top (mostly) flat panel is painted white, the curved panels on either side are clear coated. These are the sections that most people notice the degredation of the clear coat.

See Andy's response under Exterior Restoration forum 'Condition of Clearcoat'.
