Anybody Know This Trailer or Dealer In N.C?

We are considering buying this trailer which is for sale by a dealer- Wilmington RV In Wilmington N.C. Just thought I would check before I made the 1100 mile drive to pick it up if anyone knew the trailer or the dealer. It does not appear to have the red Wally numbers so I cannot track down a prior owner. The dealer took it in on trade and did not have too much history other than it was clean and spent all of its life down south. This is a 1994 Excella 1000.

Hopefully one of the forum folks that live near there can take a look for you.

Look in the inspectors list for a member in that area of NC and see if they will go take a look for you. My first question would be the left rear corner. That looks like all new material. I would want to know what rivets were used in any repair and if there was any repair made to the floor in that area.

I see the window next to the entry door has been replaced. It has a different hinge, and you can see the remains of duct tape on the skin over the window.
Do you know what wiring has been done for the additional air conditioner?

What I have been told is that the frame is straight, No damage on the underside, Axles, and tires are all in good condition. There is a dent in the front under the window. The ceiling material is starting to come loose in the hallway and has been taken down in the bedroom. Fridge is new has not been used. Furnace has never been turned on. All other systems have been checked out and work. Good question about rear AC but to tell the truth we have never used both AC units on the motor home in six years here in Wisconsin.

Don't know anything about the trailer or the dealer other than what can be seen in the photos. It has the appearance of having the streetside rear curved corner panels replaced, The panels are not hazed like the rest of the trailer and the beltline stripes stop at the corner panels. Not necessarily a bad thing. Might have to strip the clearcoat off the balance of the trailer and have new sprayed on if you want it t look the same. Possibly the same on the other side but can't tell from the photo.

Terry if you mean the window to the front of the door? That should be a fixed window on that year of trailer. They started that in the 80's. My 81 has a huge window there...and it is fixed, unlike the earlier models where it opens. (My preference BTW)

You could order the window to the right of the door as a stacked window instead of the fixed but you're right it was the larger fixed window as standard.

My understanding was the stacked was fixed too?

My '82 classic motorhome has the same look on the front panels and I never noticed this on the trailer. The motorhome has two different types of aluminum and when we polished they came out with different shines. I'll call the dealer and ask about the panels. I have looked at the window and cannot see where it has been replaced. It is a fixed window with no hinges. The door appears to fit snuggly and shows no gaps. Thanks guys.

Chaplain Kent,
Like the others, I don't have any pertain info to add about either the trailer or the dealer. I would say this about the trailer.
A. It's now 15 yrs old and, quite possibly nearing the low curve of it's pricing life.
B. Some people are quite comfortable wearing ordinary, everyday cloths and, the same with Airstreams..if that's what makes you feel comfortable.. then, all the better.
C. If it's fully functional and, suits your purpose, that's a huge plus..
D. It's just cosmetic.. You, in the end, will have to decide what's important to you.
Btw, how many A/S are out there with the same or similar repair..? I would think, quite a few or places like Andy's wouldn't be in business to repair dings or dents.
Yea, I'd have it check out real close..
And, I'd be prepared to drive home a great deal~
If the dealer is not willing to talk serious prices REDUCTION..
I would walk away..
In any event, I wish you luck in your search..

Personally, I think it looks good... "used - appropiate for the year".. but good and clean. Awnings all around are a plus - in good shape too. Nice rims, axles look ok. I like all the windows.

My only 2 cents - you will probably want to add front window protectors (that said, I still need to add them to my Argosy). I would also have someone jump on the bumper and look for rear separation... but I don't see any rippling on the side aluminum that might suggest that it's there.

As long as the appliances work, I'd say buy it!
Marc

I ordered my 25' Classic with the stacked windows to the right of the door and it opens just like the others
