VIN number

Just got our 1986 Soverign and wondered where is the VIN number located on the trailer? Feel a bit stupid asking but .......

My question would be.
Why wouldn't one want to match the VIN to the title? Before paying for the unit.

On our 1980 model the VIN placard is on the outside front of the trailer, road side, just above the floor level. I think I would look there first. Shouldn't be too hard to find unless it's missing--which would be a whole 'nother problem.
