Upgrades for our 86 SOV

We made a few minor upgrades on the unit that bring it up to 2009!

We installed the Flat Screen with a built in DVD player (got a great deal on UBid). Then we replaced the original 1986 Stereo with a new IPOD friendly unit that allows us to play hours of our favorite music. Take a look!

Very Cool and your install looks great! It looks as if we were doing about the same thing. Take a look at the second to last post in this thread...

Speaker Switch & Speaker Replacement

We plan on using the jack on the front of the our Sony to connect our Sirius satellite radio. We can do without the idiot box (TV), but we gotta have tunes when we camp.

PS - Something else you may want to consider doing is to splice in a 12V power outlet (from Radio Shack or like store) on to the 12V power wire going to the radio so you can use a car charger to keep the I-Pod battery charging.

Instead of an IPOD (which we just use a cassette adapter) we put in our home XM unit. The 85/86 front console is very adaptable.

It is also amazing how white your plastic end caps look. I had to paint mine.
