I tow my 1961 22' Safari with my 1996 Toyota T100, extra cab, V6 3.4 . I always get to where I am going, the combination feels rock solid, but the Toyota V6 is not known for its power and I do not generally travel over 55 mph. I have to drop a gear or two climbing grades. I do believe the newer Tacomas are bigger and have more power with the V6. Is yours the extra cab? The longer wheelbase is very important for smooth handling.
I think you will be fine as long as you don't mind not being the fastest rig on the road.

We tow our 2006 19' Safari SE with a 2007 Tacoma V6, Double Cab, Short Bed, with a tow package and we do just fine with it. As mentioned above we may not get to the top of this hill first, but we will get there,..and if the truth be known, if everyone followed the posted speed limits, we'd be right in there with the pack. We have been all over Arizona, iincluding northern Arizona high country and the White Mountains ... as well as the mountains of New Mexico and southern Utah. No problems. We love the combination. Go for it, and have a blast!

Shany55,

Hi, we're in the market for a 19' Bambi to be towed by our '07 FJ and am interested in what you've observed so far towing with your Taco.
