The $690 solar option...I was under the impression that was the now extinct boondocker option.

On my Safari, the second Fantastic Fan was $285 installed at the factory at the time of construction.

No idea on the matress deduction or the additional DC outlet.

I think the CCD may come with it, but if it does not, I would suggest looking into the 13.5k BTU A/C unit. My Safari had the 13.5k unit with the LS upgrade and I requested it be taken to the 15k BTU A/C unit with Comfort Controls for about $300. The 13.5k on the Bambi I feel would be a good match as when I had my '03 Bambi, at times in full sun, I could tell it was workin overtime with only an 11k unit.

The LS package on the non CCD units comes with the spare tire. I would also get the spare tire as the non CCDs only come with the spare tire bracket. If no spare comes with the CCD, I would get that.

Also if the CCD does not come with it, I would highly suggest that you get 4 stabilizer jacks (the ones mounted to the underside) and a front electric power jack. Black tank flush could also be useful.

As for the sofa. Obviously you get either the dinette or the sofa in the Bambi, not sure if you can get ultra leather option on that model, but we very much like the ultra leather. In retrospect, we would have done the same thing, however, we were first concerned about how the fabric schemes looked in print on the couches. When we saw a few while at the factory, we were very shocked at how the photos just don't do some of the fabric couches justice.

The Solar Package is available per Vicki @ Airstream and my dealer for $690.

I upgraded to the 13.5 unit (+$100), Electric Hitch Jack, Spare Tire w/Bracket, Stoneguard and Wrap Protectors.

Vicki @ Airstream said the Comfort Controls is not available on the 19' Bambi CCD.

Bear Beds offers a replacement mattress for $499 so if I am going to eventually replace it I might as well take the credit now.

Thoughts?

It all looks good to me. Like I said on the other thread, I wouldn't waste the time or money on the solar bit. Sure it's always there without having to move it, but it just does not produce the power needed for a modern coach for a week of boondocking with the Fantastic Fans running, etc.

I'd also look to make sure you have 4 stabilizer jacks mounted to the underside rather than the 2 that the '03 Bambi came with.

Mayberry's has the EU2000i Honda generator for $899 delivered, no sales tax. Better investment than the solar kit.

Try this option if you want the comfort control

Our '20 Bambi LS has the 13.5BTU HEATPUMP option and that requires the comfort controls. I don't know if A/S is still offering the heatpump model AC unit on the Bambi, but we really like it. The comfort control automatically switches to the gas furnace if the outside temp falls below 35 and back to heatpump above 35 degrees, so it save gas. I do know that A/S is still offering the 13.5BTU heatpump model on other models, so maybe you can still get it on the Bambi.

As for the solar panel, a single 53 watt unit is not much. I have two 55 watt units on our Bambi and that is marginal. You might be better off to spend a few hundred more and get a Honda EU2000i generator. Virtually silent and 2000watts.

We have the front sofa and really like it. The ultra leather was not an option at the time ours was made, but we corrected that during our interior makeover. Take a look at the pics of our unit if you want an idea of what the front sofa looks like in the Bambi.

One last thing you might want to consider is adding a rear ZipDee awning and a 2nd full sized ZipDee on the roadside. We have thoroughly enjoyed have both sides of the Bambi shaded as well as being able to always sit in the shade.

I you didn't just do the Safari upgrade, you should do so as you already have most of the items included in that package and it gives you the blacktank flush which is another item that I think should be standard.

That is a great price on the 2000i!

I didn't think the LS upgrade was avail on CCDs...learn something new everyday!

The Safari upgrade on the 2004 Bambi does include a 13.5K BTU AX w/heatpump.

Glad to hear the couch works well. I opted for it instead of the dinette. What kind of storage does it have under it?

4 stabilizers are std.

I am coming to the same conclusion on the solar. EU2000 is money better spent.

Black tank flush is std. on 19' CCD.

Thanks for the info on the awnings. Any idea of cost?

Storage under sofa

On our Bambi, there are two full sized tubs under the sofa. About half the space under the sofa (roadside) is taken up with the water tank. Also, we have two stacked full sized tubs under the bed, and if I am not mistaken, A/S has changed that to a single tub (BIG MISTAKE). If I am correct about the lack of a second tub under the bed, I would see if you could get A/S to install the shelf for it. The tubs can be bought at the factory store. There is also quite a bit of storage in the two armrests. The curbside armrest is totally available. The roadside has the water pump so it has less storage, but still a good amount.

Awning cost

I am not sure if A/S and ZeeDee have gone up in price, but the cost was about $300 for the rear awning and just under $1000 for the full sized awning.

I would also highly recommend the solar shade that attaches to the ZipDee awnings as it not only cut the sun but provides a bit more privacy ($100).

David:

The storage under the 2004 bambi bed is one huge tub that runs the length of half the bed. It is as tall as the space will allow. The other space under the bed is accessible from rear access door. Not sure about this space since the door opening is kinda small?

Thanks for the info. on the sofa. Y'alls Bambi is sweet. Who made the pillows on the bed?

DIO (did it ourselves)

Everything you see in the pics is our handwork. We did all the drapes, upholstery, bedspread, shams, loose pillows, floor, backslash, electronics, you name it.

I pulled out the tub under the bed out of a CCD 19' and it is exactly the same size as ONE of the two tubs that store under our bed. They just barely fit and you can't overstuff them if you expect to put them back in, but having 2 vs 1 is a big deal on the Bambi as it is really short on storage space. Unless A/S has lowered the bed, there is room for 2 under the bed.
