New TV for my 2001 Bambi

It didn't take long before I realized I had to tow my Bambi with something besides my '87 Toyota FJ60. Even though I have modified my Toyota's 4.0 litre in-line six quite a lot (hey, tinkering needed an object of focus before I got my AS,) the power just wasn't there. It really sucks being on a great trip and knowing a grade is coming up that I wish I could pull better and being all nervous about it--not cool. Of course, So, now I have the comfort and safety margin associated with a larger vehicle. Haven't gotten my brake controller hooked up yet, or my seven blade connector, but that'll come. Jeez, I just got my Bambi in November and poured a bucket of money into her and now a new tow vehicle. My wife smells blood and my Land Cruiser is on her short list. She's been a good old girl, but her time has come and someone will definitely dig getting one of the coolest Old Land Cruisers around. Before getting my AS I would have said with confidence I would never part with my LC, but thats not the case now. I haven't mentioned the reason why to my wife, but truth be told, I think I can spend more money on this little Bambi than I could on my Land Cruiser. Well, that's probably not quite true, but the comfort of the thought will help me let her go.

Anybody else (or everybody) fallen so hard for their AS that they dumped their previous obession(s) so quickly?

Happy Trails!

Obsession? I ain't got no obsessions!

Are you kidding?!

Everyone on this board, almost!, has dumped other obsessions to spend quality time and $ on thier Airstream(s).... Is that obsession???

Oh sure, I'm hooked! Just don't tell anyone OK??

Have fun with your new toy! Sometimes the best part is saying "Hey, it's not for me! It's for the FAMILY!!!" Great line and it works every time!

See Ya out there!

Axel

I did similar things to my Impala SS when I got our Safari. It had the power, but the wheelbase and overall weight just wasn't there....so we got a 3/4 ton Suburban...kept the SS though after the upgrade.

If I had one of those, my first thought would be "would a GM 350 fit...?"

Posters-

I particularly like Silvertoy's rationale, 'its for the family!' My wife has been using that on me ever since I met her. '62 Overlander, to answer your question regarding the 350; yeah they make an adapter for it and the conversion is way cool. However, they want 25 large (and I mean Large) for the conversion. If I were to do that I'd want to do a frame off restoration. So, the price just keeps going up. Makes more sense to just get something 17 years newer.
