Smile New 19' CCD !!

After several months of researching and looking for CCDs/Safaris no where near us we were able to pick one up at Atlanta Auto Brokers over the weekend. I feel like we got a really good price and it has all the options except the ent. package, microwave, and cd changer.

Thanks to everyone for their great posts I feel like it helped us negotiate our price and I felt very confident looking thru the airstream for any quality issues.

The airstream looks great behind my truck and being a first time tower was amazed at how well it towed.

Our first trip is to the beach in April and the first project is mounting a LCD TV. I couldnt see paying the $1400 for the ent option when I could do it much cheaper myself. I bought a mounting arm from Best Buy and we will see how it goes.

Question:

Security - how do I secure the trailer ? Nothing I have seen fits the airstream hitch. As far as I know the only option seems to be drilling thru the Airstream hitch so that I can put some type of hitch pin lock in there.

Thanks in advance for any replies

I just wanted to say congrats, that sounds like a great little trailer! Post pics when you get a chance. We always love to see pics.

There was a recent thread about a stolen trailer that evolved into a security discussion. You might look there for security ideas.

Good luck with your new toy!

Locks: lots of choices here.

Get a lock for the coupler (that fits up in it), a lock for the coupler latch (that goes through the locking hole), and a locking pin that holds your hitch bar into the truck receiver.

Even at that someone can pull your trailer away when it isn't hooked to the tow vehicle with a coupla chains around the tongue. Look at the other thread for those wheel boots they put on cars for parking violations.

CD Player: Sony has changers that will work with the receiver. You can also get other changers that put their output into the antenna input.

From a space perspective, you could replace the radio with one that plays MP3s on CD-Rs, and rip your collection to them.

For an even smaller space perspective, no work and no hookup, you could rip all your CDs to an iPod, get an iTrip for it and broadcast to your existing radio. Can even use that in the tow vehicle.

Thanks for the responses. Looking at my options for securing the trailer . Right now we have it blocked at the end of the driveway with a vehicle. I found a Sony CD 6 Disk Changer for under $100 that should plug directly into the controller.

I'll pick up my new Bambi on 3/31!

Maurice referred you to another thread on the boot. Do it. Your trailer can be towed with a coupler or hitch lock. I ordered a "trailer saver" (do a google), which is a poor man's boot. If I don't like it, I'll upgrade. The visual deterent of a boot is priceless in effectiveness.

Consider LoJack (for after the trailer is stolen) at $695 installed at your home.

Congrats on the CCD!!!

Will post pics soon. Ga/Al weather was so nice when I picked it up that I took the back window out of my Avalanche. Pretty cool seeing the shiny skin and the big wrap around windows of the CCD right behind me. There was a bad storm coming thru Middle Tn when I got home and the weather was nasty thru Sunday so I did not have time to take pics - hopefully soon !

Question Factory provides

cmock
Congrats~!~
Very nicely balanced units and, kewl combination~!!
Did the factory provide any sort of locking devices with the unit?
Maybe, what with the rise in thieves roaming the country side, we could ask them about providing a "option" package for additional security..A win win solution for both~!!
Just a thought..
Again, have a great time going down to the beach~!!

ciao
