Interior wall stains

I have a 2001 19' Bambi that is in otherwise great condition and has been well cared for. We purchased it several months ago and the only minor issue we have not been able to clean up are several small (1-2 inches) gray stains on the carpet of the walls. A carpet cleaner claims the stains are coming from behind the carpet, and no amount of bleach or cleaner has removed the stains. Does anyone else have these issues? Do they indicate any more serious condidtion (leak) or are they just an annoyance?

I've seen some gray stains on newer units coming through the white wall carpet and they all appeared to be along an interior rivet line. My assumption is this is caused by very small metal shavings developing along the rivet lines. Anyone else have any ideas? If this is the case the carpet cleaner is probably correct that you will not get the stain out while the carpet is on the wall. Joe

If the wall carpet is permanently stained, can I do something to stop the progression?
