Help with our 19' Bambi stove top

Hello to all! We are new owners of a 2004 19' Bambi (brought her home in March). Now trying to get her all geared up for some weekend trips here in Montana.

Current issue is with the 3 burner stove top. Ours didn't come with a cover of any kind. I am trying to figure how in the heck I can wash dishes without anyplace to put them to dry! We are thinking of fashioning some kind of removable top that will function as extra counter space when not cooking and store easily when not in use. I don't want to have to buy one from AS and have it installed...way too many pennies! Any suggestions out there?

Oh, want to also mention that this one did not come with an oven. The original owners had the convection microwave put in instead. We have removed this (didn't really work well anyway) and will use that space for storage.

Welcome

You may find that a plastic cutting board of a suitable size works well. My trailer has a fancy hinged cover over the stovetop but I find that it's rarely useful. I guess we do use it when washing dishes.

Thanks!

Thanks so much for the suggestions. I have also found (from Camco) what looks like a really nifty stove cover (Camco 43554 Universal Stove Top Cover) sold through Amazon. Would love to hear if anyone has tried this one. I think I will order this one and report back on this thread the results!

Thanks again...Love the AS community!

You can order the metal black folding top from a dealer as well. Also might look into adding a flip up side board on the right side of the sink between the dinette. I had one on my Bambi and it proved to be very handy.

I got a stainless steel folding top somewhere I can't recall for the stove top in my old trailer, it was similar to the black metal one in my Bambi 19. It was great to have the extra counter space. If you can't get an OEM replacement go for the universal one. I wish my Bambi had a microwave, never have baked a cake in a trailer yet but I frequently want to warm leftovers.

Check out my post on this thread where I describe how we deal with the limited counter space in our 19' Bambi ... for both foo prep and dish washing. We do have the range cover but you could use a large cutting board on top of your range instead of the standard range cover...

Haven't been on in a long time but you could have a counter man build a cover. We did on our several years ago. The photos should still be on file somewhere on this thread.
