Question Bumper dents

There are a lot of threads about skin dents, but has anyone out there had experience straightening out a bumper dent? I'm referring to the kind that could've been the result of a rear-ending by an invisible telephone pole (the original owners). I'm guessing this would be a standard body shop issue, but has anyone fixed one themselves? Any knowledge of the cost (ballpark of course) of a body shop repair?
