Jack,

Are you sure you don't mean 'Dial' dishwashing detergent. I still can't find Ammonium Laurl sulfate whatever in Dawn, but it does show up in Dial.

Formula's do change and it is possible that they have changed. I checked this out in 2001 just after I bought my new Safari when everybody said use Dawn. The bottle I have dates back to then.

If the current bottles don't list the ingredients then I probably would still be leary. Even if it is safe, I don't know what the detergent properties would be relative to the Walbernize product that I use. So far my Armor-All car wash doesn't seem to harm the previously applied Walbernize.

I just ventured through P&G's safety documents and it looks like Dawn, Joy, and Ivory dishwashing liquids chemically are identical. The piece they don't disclose is what the cleaning and sudsing agents are. Also, 5-10% of the product is ethyl alcohol added as a dispensing agent. I don't see anything about ammonia products.
