Any other '02 Bambi LS units out there?

In chasing down the whole 19' Safari LS vs 19' Bambi LS badging, some things have become clearer, others less so. Our unit J514492 is clearly not a standard 19'er and it was made in early Oct 2001 which puts it in the right timeframe to be one of the tricked out 19'ers that Airstream originally badged as Safari LS and then later had the dealers rebadge as Bambi LS.

I am curious if there are ANY other Bambi LS badged units (either spotted or owned). Our dealer did tell us the story of A/S having them rebadge the Safari LS to Bambi LS, but at the time, it did not make much difference to us, so I did not specifically inquire if ours was the unit rebadged (high probability as it had been sitting on their lot for a year when we bought it early last Oct). I am working with A/S to see if they can help ascertain if ours was originally badged as a Safari LS and if so, intend to order the Safari lettering and return it to original factory livery.

In your shot of the roadside, I do not spot the small medallion like is on the curbside just behind the refrig access door. Does your unit just have the single small medallion? The medallion at the front of the roadside, is the same as on my unit (both sides).

I also thought I would pass along that I scanned and reduced my WBCCI #s. Thought they just looked better a bit lower.

Interesting. My '01 Bambi also has the 70th Anniversary Badge.

David, [oops] you might be right about the roadside front badge. I came across this photo in my collection and just assumed the front badge was the 70th anniversary badge. I can't confirm it yet as my Airstream is still at the factory! Sorry to raise even more confusion!

Your Bambi should have the anniversary badging as '01 was the anniversary year. In talking to A/S, they told me that NONE of the '02s should have had the medallions, but some did go out with them.

David I see that you have put your #'s on the unit. Did you have them special made so they can be easliy removed, or did you just give-in & go with the regular ones? We still haven't made up our minds, as to put them on or not, as we like the looks with-out. I admit it's fun to see others & look up who they are & where they're from.

I know this is a old post but I am the new owner of a 02 Bambi LS I am looking forward to getting a lot of use from this unit. The info in this site helped me make my purchase, what to look for and look out for. Thanks for your help and info.
