28 footer
That 28 footer would be a real jewel, but I wish it had the AS interior decor instead of the CCD interior decor. IMHO, 28' of CCD decor would be truly overpowering.
I love the 28' floor layout, though.

Couch option
Notice the couch option in the 22' AS floorplan that hairstream published above. About 2 months from now, that will be the floor layout of my International AS. I have started gathering material to convert my dinette to a couch. I will have a folding table suspended from the bedroom partition in mine.
This is the first time I have seen the couch option "on paper" so to speak.

Sign me up for that 28 ft. CCD! Wow! Anyone heard of any plans to produce it in the near future? Any idea of the floor plan?

Sorry about that hairstream, but now if I squint just right, I think I can see something about the 28 ft. CCD in the graphic you posted....can I find the hi rez version somewhere on the net?
Thanks

It looks like a page out of an Airstream brochure...but not one that I have ever seen....is it from a new one?
Thanks

the brochure was picked up last weekend at a local dealer. there in no year-date printed anywhere in the brochure... the 2003 bambi interior is shown along with (only) the 19ft floor plan... however, the picture that presents the entire line-up shows a 16ft bambi (not the ccd w/rivet/wrap/split windows... an early 2002). the cover of the brochure is blue and there is a picture an "individual" enjoying a nice candlelight dinner with champange in a 19ft bambi parked over the golden gate bridge, at night, with the City in the background. If my bearings are right the pictures puts the bambi smack-dab on top of a ww2 gunnery emplacement/lookout.

Not having seen the Airstream ad directly, but from your description it sounds just like an old ad for a 1960's AS with a couple at night in their airstream, above the Golden State Bridge, with candles on (I saw it in the "Airstream" book at Barnes and Noble the other night). Of course, you don't even have to be "there" in this digital age, just cut and paste! (OJ was framed!! Just kidding!)
By the way, I'm glad the actual layout of the 16ft ccd is different then in the magazine drawings - much better appeal to others - spreading the AS dream to others that may have not considered it. I would actually like one, if I had a spare 30 thou lying around! My Argosy will just have to do.

In the 2003 brocure the only "Bambi" shown in the 19 footer. On the "International" page they show a 16' CCD and a 28' CCD and note that they are "currently in development - coming soon".
I'm waiting for the 34' slideout to be available with the AS interior - Now that would be a great Airstream! If Airstream wants to reach the younger crowd they need to offer interiors that don't resemble Grandmas's musty old parlor! The AS and CCD are a step in the right direction. Also shown in this brochure is the Safari with the AS interior. The dealer had on on the lot and it looked great!
The picture on the back cover with the women lighting candles and chilling champagne is my favorite Airstream ad. It is an early 70s Tradewind, Overlander, Ambassador, or Sovereign (they all look alike from the front...<G>). It is taken from the Marin headlands, north of the Goldengate Bridge, with San Francisco seen in the distance behind the bridge. I suspect the trailer is a Tradewind, since the roads getting up there are extremely narrow and winding.

pjtaia, you're right
I haven't seen a new AS style Safari yet, but the day I picked up my Intl. AS, I told the salesman that the larger trailers would be real sellers with the Intl. AS interior and I hoped A/S would realize that.
The AS interior combination of modern, attractive, easy to maintain and instantly comfortable can't be beat. The smooth, curved surfaces instantly feel good and are comfortable to live with. The Tropical Oak laminate is a great choice, a wood grain finish that doesn't overwhelm one in the small space..
The AS isn't only for the younger crowd. I'm 70 and I find the AS a perfect fit for my tastes, although most folks would say that my tastes are younger than my chronological age.
I want to see a 28' Intl. CCD layout with the AS decor. It would be a wow! An AS style interoior with a slide would be similarly a hit.

Pahaska,
I just saw a 1 hour documentary on the history of the "Sabre" and I even saw some similarities with AS's . I'm sure you also see them.
You can be proud to have flown such a fine & well built fighter.

Sabres and such
Thanks, NewStreamer, Hemmingway wrote somewhere that nothing could ever replace the feeling that a man has for the first fighter he ever flew. I guess that's true, for almost 50 years later, I have to take time admire the Sabre at Camp Mabry every time I pass. The Airstream does resemble it in a lot of ways with all the aluminum and rivets.
The Airstream and the WW II B-25 bomber have similar shell constuction. I flew a number of hours as co-pilot in B-25s in the 50s.
On another subject. I took my A/S to the dealer this morning in the rain and while I was there, I took a look at the 2003 Safari and Safari LS that have the International AS interior decor. Love at first sight! The Safari LS is especially beautiful inside.

You can download a PDF version of the 2003 brochure at the Airstream website, but it's not very easy to read. I've tried to get Airstream to mail me a real brochure but so far they haven't been very responsive.
BTW -- If anyone can get the virtual tours of the Bambi and International trailers to work at the Airstream website, please let me know. I have been trying to see them but can't get them to work on my computer and, again, the folks at Airstream haven't been responsive.
Thanks!

Virtual Tours
I have had good luck with te virtual tours. There is a pretty long loading time (at least on my dial-up line) before they start to work.
I was all over the International AS virtual tour before I had the trailer. I even used the AS virtual tour to help decide where to stow things in the trailer.

Virtual Tours
Thanks, Pahaska, for that info about the Airstream virtual tours. Now I at least know the problem is at my end. I have a DSL connection so it shouldn't take very long to load. Guess I'll have to do some debugging...
